Dudley says Suns missing Lou on defense

"Second unit, we've been struggling all year," Dudley said. "We're turning the ball over. We're taking bad shots. Defensively, we're terrible. I think we really miss Lou's (Amundson) energy and making up for our mistakes. Hopefully now, (Marcin) Gortat can help fill that role and offensively we can get into a better rhythm because our rhythm is terrible out there."

Worse move of the off season was not re-signing Lou :(

By the way off topic, Cards are up 21-10 on the Cowgirls

Studley has proven to be a great contributor no matter what his role. I believe we took a gamble on Childress and Warrick and neither seems to be working out like we expected, especially on defense. I think it's safe to say we're going to package either one or both of them with Carter at the deadline for a major upgrade at SG or PF or both.

Could not agree more. The heart and soul of the second unit. Absolute warrior. Losing him caused so many problems this year. He would been able to fills holes we had thereby giving the team we had enough time to gel. We wouldn't have had to make this abomination of a trade we just made.

I might as well have gotten "sign Lou instead of Frye and/or Warrick" tatooed on my arm this offseason :-?

Absolutely nothing wrong with signing Frye or Warrick. Frye is absolutely essential to a Nash lead team. Warrick is one of the leaders in TS % in the whole league. He's a poor defender but the coaching staff needs to work his ass on team defense. At some point in time the coach has to take responsibility for our awful defense. No reason he can't be a valuable piece to this team as sub. For this team he's a hell of a lot better than Gortat given his salary.

I miss Lou a lot. I didn't at first, but now I realize he was really important to the teams second unity. His rebounding was really refreshing.

Yeah, I thought that not resigning Lou was right up there with trading for Hedo.

Yea. Right now, I feel we should have signed Lou instead of Warrick. Thought Warrick would play with something to prove. Other than his on-and-off energy on offense, there really is nothing else.

God I hate the team we have now. Other than Nash, Dudley,Hill, RoLo and Dragic, everyone else look like bums.

I sitll like this team. I think we have some nice pieces and really just need to ship one of our wings for a PF to get our rotations right and make our system more efficient.

You were at least half right.

i wouldnt mind getting Shawn Marion or Lou Amundson back..
with Shawn, we'd probably need to give up Lopez and Childress, which I'm fine with..

Nash-Dragic
Carter-Dudley-Pietris
Marion-Hill-Pietris
Frye-Warrick
Gortat-Barron

or, with Lou, we'd probably need to give up Dudley, which again, i'm fine with..

Nash-Dragic
Carter-Childress
Hill-Pietris
Warrick-Lou
Frye-Gortat

i like the Marion idea better though, cuz he's flexible with the SF/PF position and can make the rotations a little easier on Alvin. idk, just an idea

From the beginning, I thought not resigning Lou would hurt us the most. He hasn't done anything great for GS, but I don't think there is way we could get him back. But there is no way, JRich, LB, and Clark would have netted us Gortat, VC, Peitrus, cash, and a first. So trading for Hedo turned out as a good trade. Never replacing the missing PF hurt us as well.

Frye is playing, really, really well this season.

Lou is not.

I don't see why how we'd be better off with Lou instead of Frye.

After how Lopez/Dudley/Chilly are playing recently I don't see why we'd give them up for Lou or Marion on a bad contract. I really don't.

Perhaps Lou instead of Warrick though. The shame is Phnx dangled relatively the same deal to Lou as GS did. His crew held out for more, and it almost cost him a job here in the states.

just another spilt-milk mention.
