Nash still thinks window open....

Here is a link to an Art Garcia article with Nash and co., this quote is at the end of the article but very interesting, especially with all the trade Nash and Hill talk going around here............

There's still plenty of time to get back into the race, but is that enough if it just means being first-round fodder for the Lakers, Spurs or Mavericks?

Nash, for one, isn't thinking that way.

"The last six months it feels like the window has closed," Nash said. "I think it's opened back up for us."

Not really his confidence. What do you expect him to say? What surprised me though was his first quote.

"We're struggling and we were an unbalanced roster, so we added a little size and defense," Nash said. "It didn't look like we had a great shot of getting J-Rich back in the summer anyways, so I thought it was an opportunity to make a move. It's going to take some time, but hopefully it's really big for us at some point for the season."

It makes it almost sound like he was behind the trade. The comment about the the window closing also make it sound that way. I guess even the great Steve Nash makes mistakes.

Sundamental, I don't see how you view this as a Nash "mistake", nor how you see that he was behind the moves. IMO, it reads as though he was ok with the trade considering everything and everybody involved.........

The truth is we should have risked inking Amare and kept JRich for one more shot for the group of guys that swept the Spurs.

losing to the Clipps is unacceptable. can't wait to see what our next move would be, but for now we gotta win the games we are suppose to win to even have a chance by the time we make our next move.

For the window to still be open requires another trade before the deadline. A Frye and Warrick combo at PF won't get the Suns deep into the playoffs in my opinion. A trade netting us either Josh Smith or Elton Brand for Vince Carter and other particulars (draft picks, Warrick etc) would have to be made. As good of a job as Grant Hill did in the 2nd half guarding Blake Griffin won't last for the rest of the season. A 38 year old guy banging against 250lb mountains of muscle will take its toll in the long haul...

My point was that my reading of his quote seemed to implied Nash was actively involved in the thought process behind the trade and was being consulted by management. I realize he doesn't say that specifically. It's just my reading between the lines. I obviously could be wrong.

The mistake part is really my take on the trade. If Nash was somewhat behind it then I believe he made a big mistake. I think this trade was horrible. Simple as that.

Understood. But I on the otherhand think this will turn out to be a great trade. Well, depending on Carter's health that is. If he is healthy, I think it will be a great move. I look at like this, what have we added? A defensive 7 footer with strength (muscle size) a defensive wing with a 3 pt shot, and again, if healthy, Carter is one of the best wing players in the league.

It's no secret he AND Hill were both involved in the discussions yay/naying the trade... Nash didn't "pull the trigger", so to speak.

I don't know about the window being opened, but we can possibly make the playoffs if carter gives us anything.

Exactly... The past experience suggests, VC plays with heart and has the capability to give everything he has when something's on the line.

He's gonna have to find a hot tub time machine for this team to make the playoffs.
