WTF? Has anyone seen our record when Nash wasn't in the lineup, but Amare was? Without Nash, Hill doesn't comeback. And unless we had the Goran from game three of the Spurs series, we would have to have a point doing as well as Felton is now to even come close. And with the schedule we had, we might just still be around .500.

I think too many people aren't giving enough credit to the rest of the Knicks' players. It would be like Kobe's Lakers after Shaq and before Gasol.

I would assume, if the Suns lost Nash they would have gotten an adequate replacement for him, someone like Luke Ridnour or Kirk Hinrich.
I just can't think of what was going through Sarver's head when he thought it would be a more wise decision building the franchise around a 38 year old point guard instead of a 28 year old PF.
Could have at least attempted to get Al Jefferson, and then quite possibly David Lee. But I guess Sarver thought Hedo would be a sound decision at PF.

But we didn't replace Amare, so an equal question would have be: What if we lost Nash and failed to replace him, but kept Amare?

Amare would never have been able to be "the face of the franchise" in this city, it may work in NY but not here. This city for the most part supports clean cut players-players that are humble and have humility.

Sad that a player is judged because of that even if they can play ball but it's the truth...

Well you can't really replace a guy like Amare or Nash, but at least we'd have guys capable of running point guard. Goran Dragic would do a moderately decent job, with Grant Hill taking some of the ballhandling duties away as well as Hedo. Then we'd still have Earl Clark, who can absolutely ball

Ousted in the playoffs earlier than we should be.

Where did all the talk about Amare's future impending injury go? Isn't THAT the reason we didn't commit to building around him? If it wasn't for the injury-concern and subsequent unguaranteed contract years we gave for his extension (after the first two or three, anyway), we would have had BOTH.

I'm an outsider, but I think you'd be worse. Hasn't your record minus Nash over the years been awful? The guy won an MVP the year Amar'e was out.

Completely agree. Talented elite big men are hard to come by, moreso than an old HOF PG. Knicks simply got a decent PG in Felton, and surrounded Amar'e with shooters.

I think many underestimated Amar'e's scoring talent and simply attributed most of his numbers to Nash and the run and gun style of the Suns.

We'd still be a losing team, but at least we'll have a better looking future.

A lot of people forget that Amare has a seriously good jump shot for a PF. He could easily put up 20ppg purely on mid range j's without having to dunk/layup at all.
I think this is what we miss most about him. We can bring in other PF's to run the p 'n r with Nash - heck even Warrick could be the poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor man's Amare in this respect - but how many other PF's in the league (particularly the ones we could reasonably trade for) have the offensive versatility that Amare has?

This team is totally different without him.

But heaps here are forgetting Nash has proven he can carry the Suns without Stoudemire or a HIGH scoring PF...

he just needs ACTUAL players that play their position appropriately...

Diaw 6'8 = SF/PF/C
Tim Thomas 6'9 = SF/PF
S.Marion 6'7 = SF/PF

Suns had players that PLAYED and CONTRIBUTED significantly at the PF spot when Stoudemire was away...
