Meeting today at practice.

Post#1 » by Traxxe » Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:59 pm

Everyone but Sarver wants a rebuild. Nash is open to being traded. Meeting yesterday at practice and it became obvious chemistry is atrocious now. Vince wants out. The biggest hurdle is Sarver and the fear of losing $$$. The GM wants to make changes too. Suns’ owner would rather be mediocre and making some money rather than rebuild and be competitive. He’s being pressured though. It’s gotten so bad that players have asked not to be traded to the suns in negotiations. No one wants to play with us that bad during the Sarver era. There is no faith in the owner. The word is out.

Of course chemistry is atrocious. They traded Richardson for a dude who's pretty much retired already. Vince wants out? Well, Vince, please leave ASAP.

Not nearly true. Dudley and Frye got their paychecks, they don't really wanna leave. Lopez and Dragic are "the future" and will get their paychecks, so they're not going for a while (unless Lopez is traded). Everyone else is fair game to be moved, but what return are we going to get? Let's see what happens.

We don't have a terrible core moving forward without Nash/Hill.

Dragic/Dudley/Frye/Lopez/Gortat are locks to stay, IMO, and the people we'll be building around.

Chilly, Warrick, Lawal, Pietrus are assets we can trade if we need to. I think Chilly/Warrick/Lawal can be useful to us, but somehow we need to acquire star talent, because we have a team full of role-players signed to decent, yet long-term contracts.

Are we all really "smh" at Sarver? If you had an investment, would you willingly do something that would cost you hundreds of millions of dollars?

I understand Sarver's reluctance to rebuild, and I understand why our FO wants to rebuild. There are no winners here. We're all losers.

Traxxe has a source. He's verified through mods, but since we have a bunch of idiots on the board it's not subjected to our criticism.

Thanks for the info Traxxe, its good to know that our FO knows what needs to be done, and its just the Owner holding them back. I would have been more upset if the whole FO thought everything was hunky-dory.

To say that the FO knows what needs to be done is kind of ironic seeing how they caused this mess.

Man, I knew the end of the Nash era was inevitable, but it hurts to watch it die like this.

Sarver needs to listen to the people that actually know basketball. Has he learned nothing during his time here? If he's so afraid of losing money, perhaps he should just get out now while there might be other people interested in owning this franchise.

I'm not one of those Sarver haters. In fact, I think he gets a lot of blame when he doesn't deserve it. But, enough is enough. It's obvious this team is going nowhere and right now is a fine time to start the rebuilding process. The last time we decided to "rebuild" (2004), we got lucky. I don't think it'll happen again, but you just never know. At this point, I'd rather watch a young team play its hardest and come into their own (with or without success) over the next 3-4 years rather than sit through 82 games watching overpaid, underachieving "stars" going through the motions.

There will certainly be some winners among the players. Some that remain will get much needed time. The others that leave will perhaps end up on good teams. I personally hope Nash and Hill go to a contender, preferably together although that seems unlikely.

I know many of you here will take this the wrong way but the Suns could very easily lose the next five games given the opponents. I actually hope that happens so there is no doubt as to what direction they take. Nash will never win here and I'd love to see him get a championship. Hill as well. This last trade was the straw that broke the camels back.

But I have yet to hear a logical Nash trade that allows us to rebuild this year. Maybe an off season trade, where we have a better understanding of who is entering the draft, and where teams we would be trading with will be. I am also not ready to have Goran run this team. A fire sale mentality, will just foster GMs looking to rape us in trades. If this meeting gets out, it will not be good for this team moving forward. :(

Agreed, RDG. Having a firesale midseason would be a mistake. Let's play out the year and see what happens this summer.

Kerrsed in Az:
My inside source says the Suns FO wants to rebuild, but Sarver is holding them back. What is the best deal the Suns could get for a Nash/Hill trade, and who are some players we should be looking at acquiring?

Joel Brigham:
It's hard to guess. Reports have come out in the last week that Nash and Hill have "moderate value," and I think that's fair at their ages. Honestly (and I've been saying this all year), even moderate value is good for those guys considering the state of the Suns. They aren't going anywhere anytime fast, so cash out those guys while they've got ANY value. Be happy with even draft picks or cap space or even reasonable younger guys with some promise. That's the road I'd take.
