Nash Snubbed

All Star reserves were announced.
Predictably Nash was snubbed. The West is stacked with great players. I'm really not surprised.
Question: Could Nash be picked to replace Yao Ming? Or is it a given that a big man like Kevin Love or LeMarcus Aldridge will get the nod?
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/210584/NBA_Announces_All_Star_ReservesThe NBA announced the reserves of the 2011 All-Star Game on Thursday.
Boston's Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were named to the team, along with Chris Bosh of Miami and Atlanta's Al Horford and Joe Johnson.
In the Western Conference, Dirk Nowitzki, Russell Westbrook, Pau Gasol, Blake Griffin, Deron Williams and San Antonio's Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were named to the team.
Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Steve Nash and Monta Ellis were amongst the most prominent snubs.
Commissioner David Stern will name at least one replacement for injured starting center Yao Ming.

Westbrook over Nash is just crazy.
Anyway, Nash is too busy climbing Camelback Mountain with a 50lb vest to be concerned about this:
http://twitvid.com/RTEJQEdit: What the hell. Ghill's twitter says he rode his bike to Tucson and back today. These guys aren't normal.

That's an 11 hour bike ride one way, according to google maps.
22 hour bike ride? I'm not sure Grant could pull it off.

Absurdity. Nash and Love not making it is **** ridiculous. The West should have carried 4 PGs.

Westbrook deserves to be an All-Star this season. Was Nash snubbed? Probably. But players playing on winning teams are always looked upon more favorably.

Westbrook over Nash crazy? Not really...Westbrook is averaging 22, 5 and 9 this year on a team with prolific scoring Durant. Nash should have made it regardless, but id give the nod to Westbrook over Nash this year hands down. To put things in another perspective, Kobe is only averaging 26, 5 and 5, and to me, 4 assists is more important than 4 points. Westbrook also has a higher efficiency rate than the black mamba as well.

I don't think he cares. He already is the best free-throw shooter in NBA history, and he is the only player in NBA history to have more than two years in a row of 50/40/90, and he is working on another one of those this year. I think he is fine sitting out this popularity contest.

I don't think Westbrook is the issue it's pretty clear he's better than Nash. The player I have issue with here is Chris Paul he really screws this up, he's not having his best year and he's not the only player making the Hornets go, D-West and Okafor are killing it for them this year. Dun't see how he's a starter. It should be Westbrook-Williams-Nash-Paul in that order.

Nash is still the most efficient guard in the NBA. 17/11 was enough for an all-star start for him when he was playing next to Amare.
Westbrook- 22.5 ppg/8.4apg/54 TS% as a second option with the defense focusing on Durant first and foremost.
Nash- 17.2ppg/11apg/64 TS% as a first option, with the defense totally keyed in on him, in less minutes
And I know Westbrook is touted as the better defender, but Nash is actually putting up an astonishing season defensively.
Westbrook allows .89 points per possession (41.9% shooting)
Nash allows .85 points per possession (39.2% shooting)
Nash has him beat quite handily using adjusted plus/minus measures. The team is 11.79 points better when Nash is playing. The numbers say that Westbrook's impact actually is negative .79.
.154 win shares for Westbrook, .184 win shares for Nash.
82games.com's simple rating puts Nash's impact at +15.8, and Westbrook's at 2.9. etc, etc.
IMO, Nash has the advantage.

IMO, Nash is the best pg in the NBA. What he's doing with the roster we have is incredible. I guarantee if you put any other PG in the NBA with the Suns, he would not average 11 asts, and we would have a worst record. Nash is getting robbed.

Nash definitely got robbed. I am glad he is the first runner-up for Yao's spot, but not including him on here, but including Griffin is an epic failure. Griffin is good...great in fact, but Nash is better. Not convinced at all about Westbrook being better than Nash, Paul either (this year) Even D Will, (this year). Nash is the most efficient , make your team better, PG in the league right now.
On his improved defende, I noticed that he is hawking the ball much better this year. He has extended pressure out to the handlers, maybe because he has more confidence now that Gortat is here, and Frye has learned how to block.

It's typical nba bs, even after the fans vote its a popularity contest so stern can boost the ratings. for both nash and love not to be all stars is ridiculous.

The West should have carried 4 PGs.
Nash not being in is ridiculous, considering what he's doing with a much, MUCH crappier team. It really is unreal.
Awesome post, Sav.

OK if so why the hell is BLAKE GRIFFIN on the All-Star team. Those coaches most be smoking those funny cigarettes because if BLAKE GRIFFIN made the All-Star team so should LOVE. Gasol shouldn't be on the team this year because i think Odom been playing way better than him this year and the coaches may be feel they owe Duncan something by putting him on the team because he shouldn't be an All-Star either, its Ginobili and Parker who been carrying the Spurs this year. Nash should also be an All-Star because he's way better than Westbrook,D-Will and even CP3. I THINK THIS WHOLE THING COMES DOWN TO BLAKE GRIFFIN BECAUSE IF HE MADE IT SO SHOULD LOVE, NASH, ODOM AND MAYBE MONTA ELLIS

Nash is still the best PG in the NBA, sad that only Suns fans and a handful of others even realize it. I was watching Inside the NBA yesterday, and they didn't talk about Nash once when mentioning the best replacement. Pathetic and disgraceful.
