Stern puts $arver in check!

When the NBA owners and players joined for a brief, acrimonious meeting on All-Star weekend a year ago, Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver had a big idea: Why don’t the commissioner and the union reps leave the room, and let the owners and players speak directly on the matter of a collective-bargaining agreement?
The suggestion was met with resounding rejection from Players Association executive director Billy Hunter, but commissioner David Stern spared his anger until union officials and players left the room. With the rest of the NBA’s owners watching, sources told Yahoo! Sports that Stern berated Sarver with an expletive-riddled diatribe demanding that he never, ever ask him to leave one of his negotiating sessions again. This was the Stern mostly hidden from the public eye: belligerent, controlling and forever staking his territory.
Several owners believed Stern’s tantrum was directed beyond Sarver and at the changing guard of NBA ownership: younger, brasher and with far more money invested into franchises than predecessors who had been mostly willing to let Stern be the driving force in labor talks. The two sides will meet again on Friday in Los Angeles, and rhetoric of doomsday labor shutdowns promises to rise again.

This is par for the course. Stern may always be the smartest guy in the room, but he's also always the biggest a.s.s. hole.

Stern is a dictator. I would love Sarver if he stood up, gave him a piece of his mind and then beat that m****r *****s face in! I will always hate Stern. the nba will be a better organization when he finally leaves.

Saver was just wanting the owners and players to get together and make collages for team building purposes.

NBA officials should do what Egypt did, and protest around Madison Square Garden until this arrogant idiot leaves. I personally thought Sarver's idea was very good, but Stern, being the Hosni Mubarak that he is, seemed to take offence.

Wow, I thought this title said Stern writes Sarver a check.

I was thinking, it was about time, now where are the fans checks for all the years we have followed a team that Stern has made his own Washington Generals?
Stern is in league with lucifer!

I am wondering when he went on his rant, was he flailing his arms and sounding a bit like Hitler?

Honest question, do the owners appoint a commissioner with a vote?

Yes. Every team owner owns 1/30 of the NBA and commissioner is a worker hired by them.

Now
here is where we could have an Egyptian metaphor about free and open elections for 30 years

So I don't get how he hasn't been ousted yet. Surely there is someone who can maintain the "successful business" of the NBA without being such a **** like Stern is? My vote goes to Colangelo.

I've always liked Stern - I remember when the league was on the ropes, and he was instrumental in guiding it back to health. I don't like all the decisions he's made and maybe he's been in the job too long and become autocratic, but on the whole Stern's been very very good for the league
Now, Stu Jackson ......
