Gentry walks out after practice today

http://arizonasports.com/category/video-articles/20110317/Isn't the captain supposed to be the last man to leave the sinking ship? Apparently Alvin Gentry doesn't view himself as the captain since he walked out after a lackluster practice today. The players were left explaining to reporters why the coach walked off the court after practice. The Suns ship is sinking, and has been since Amare was traded.
I am not in the least bit disheartened by the Suns current dismal situation. I am eargerly looking forward to the rebuild. Will the Suns rebuild with FA veterans? Will they go young and buy their way up in the draft to get a Derrik WIlliams or Jared Sullinger? The biggest question is whether they will trade Nash this summer. I personally hope they trade Nash, Hill, Lopez, Carter (4mil buyout then adios), Peitrus and possibly Aaron Brooks. TIME TO BEGIN THE REBUILD!!!
Not sure what the future holds for this team. I'm sure it will be frustrating, exhilarating, dissapointing and fun. Suns always seem to find a way to pull together winning teams, and I'm sure they are going to do it again in the near future.
GO SUNS!

No excuse for the coach to be doing this
And interesting, Gortat makes it sound like ORL has much tougher/longer practices. If so, it shows...

Thanks Kerrsed for posting the video.
I sometimes wonder if Gortat regrets coming to the Suns? Yes, he is starting for the first time in his career and has really emerged as a good starting caliber center in the NBA. But with the Nash era coming to an end, Suns could be looking at a dry spell playoff wise for the next couple of years. Plus, it seems to really bug Gortat that Suns don't play defense, implies they have easy practices etc...
Gee, I love this guy.......

3 hour Orlando practices vs. 1 hour Phoenix practices. That's sad to be honest. I understand you're trying to keep your old men durable for the post season, but the post season's not gonna happen when you let your team slide as much as you have. No wonder we've had to super simplify our defense. We hardly ever practice

In that vid the players are admitting that they didn't bring it today...I don't blame Gentry for being ticked off, since they had a terrible practice just a few days ago.

Since i dont want to start a new thread for this, but here is a great story on Hoopsworld about our "Uphill Battle" to make the play-offs. Also on that page is a video of HoopsHype.com awarding Nash "NBA Tweeter Of The Year" (with a bonus appearance of the OG Twitter Mack Daddy himself, Jared Dudley!).

I don't know the specifics but I liked what Gentry did. Sometimes it takes a coach walking out to fire up the team and since Nash and Hill (the captains) don't have the power to do it, someone else has to. I doubt any of the Suns players feel differently towards Gentry after this, I think they are likely to be even more fired up.

Are we seriously proud of Gentry for doing this? So in that line of thinking, the team should have walked off the court about ten times this year after Gentry completely lost the game with crappy subbing and terrible in game adjustments. "We are talking about practice?"

And what else can Gentry do? He sure as heck can't coach this team to victory! Is he shocked that we royally suck during the third quarter? He just goes with the same rotation to start the third, even if those guys can't hit water if they fell out of a boat.

Are you in some way affiliated with the Suns because you never question anything that is done. Amazing that someone who has taken the time to post over 17,000 times on this board never has a bad word to say about Gentry this year. He has been horrible this year and yet everyone (practically) gives him a free pass. Western conference finals to out of the playoffs and the coach never gets questioned. Has anyone noticed that the other seven teams that the playoffs last year will likely make it again except Utah, and we all know what transpired there. Unbelievable Gentry never comes under fire.

Sundamental that's a perfect example of an unprovoked personal attack. Please stop making me chase you around this board to make sure threads don't escalate. If you want to post here fine, but do so either as a Suns fan or as a respectful fan of another team. This forum is for basketball talk and instead of attacking people for their opinions it's much more constructive if you just provide yours.

Yes, let's blame the coach for a dysfunctional team

Yes.
I AM Alvin Gentry.
Drats, my cover is blown!

Gentry needs some blame too. He could just as easily throw his chair across the court and yell at somebody, but no, he calls it a day and acts all disappointed. What does he expect to happen? The team takes initiative and teach themselves better D?
No excuse for the coach to walk out. I'd understand if he raged and broke a window, but he's not performing his due diligence by trying to send messages this late in the season.

Well, at least the Suns made this season somewhat interesting. I'll still root for the team to win and make the playoffs, but things are looking pretty bleak.
Also, could we be looking at a potential coaching change this summer too if we go into a true rebuild? We might end up looking like the Bucks on offense next year,

Still think our practices should be a bit longer. You can only get so much done in an hour
But you reminded me of my senior year in wrestling. We lost pretty bad in our first match of the year and our coach was livid. He didn't run practice the next day, our team captains did. The only match we lost after that was the last one of the year (there's about 18 in a season total if I remember correctly). Same thing happened. We went to regionals and destroyed that team and ended up winning 2nd in state, placing ahead of both teams... All because we knew we didn't bring it and our coach let us know that that was unacceptable. So ya know what, I totally agree with your point.

Where were you today when BurningHeart said I had half a brain? I guess that's ok then?
And in what way is this a personal attack? Are we not allowed to direct our points directly to another member? I merely questioned him as to why he always supported Gentry. Is this not allowed?
