^Yeah if Nash is moved then a bad contract (chill or Warrick) needs to go along for the ride...

PG Nash, C Lopez and PF Warrick
for
PG Nelson, PF Bass, C Orton and use the Gortat trade exption on Warrick's contract
That would work?

Throw in a future 1st (if the trade happens post draft, a 2012 pick can be added). Then we are golden!

Nelson/ Brooks/ Dowdell
Dudley/ Burks
Childress/ Pietrus
Frye/ Bass/ Lawal
Gortat/ Orton/ Siler
It's not the worst trade Nash scenario I've seen, value seems pretty fair if that was the direction we wanted to go in.
I almost prefer having Hak over Bass in this instance because I think Lawal is more in the rugged Bass/ Amundson type of mold and while Bass is clearly the superior player, I like having the option of a stretch 4 (frye), an athletic 4 (Warrick) or a banger 4 (Lawal).
Bass is a guy that commands minutes, while our current 3 guys each only may play limited minutes (between 10-24 mins each) at the 4 spot. Channing is the only one that commands minutes and he can also split time at the 5.
Having 3 different 'types' of PF would allow us to mix and match based on match ups. I think this is important for a team lacking true star talent, as we aren't good enough to impose our style on anyone anymore. We have to be more reactive to teams now, as we can't really adopt the whole "this is what we are going to do, it's up to you to beat us" mentality.
Anyway that's just my take. It's all contingent on coaching rotations etc anyway so not even sure Gentry would be sharp enough to handle such a reactive rotation.
Also from a magic perspective, do they really want to have Nash and Turk together? Perhaps they would cut him under the amnesty clause.

What's the news on Nash's situation in PHX locally? is he attainable? Or do they want him there to retire?

The spiel that the front office is giving is that they are not looking to deal Nash and that they would like him to retire a Sun. Makes sense for them, as he is the face of the franchise and he puts asses in seats. His value to PHX is arguably more than his value to any other team.
I think it would have to be a really good deal to get him out of PHX.

yes, its probably the best that we could get right now. I'd like to give up that hak or childress contract and maybe get a pick but beggers can't be choosers.

Nash is going nowhere. He's an expiring after this next season anyway. Obviously we'll keep him, and only entertain offers if we're not "in it" by the trade deadline, and even then I'm sure he'll expire or re-sign with us anyway.

He will be traded this summer, anyone who disagrees is just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I want to trade Nash too, but no way in hell that happens.

Some want him traded, some want to find pieces for one final run. Personally, I want to see him traded for assets, or expiring if he's paired along any of our longer contracts (Warrick and Childress).
But judging from the FO and the owner, this doesn't seem likely. Personally, I'll give that trade a go if a "post current Dwight Howard contract Magic 1st round pick" is offered to us.

Why trade Nash for a package that isn't that young and makes the Suns a 30-35 win team?

Hey Kerrsed remember when Gortat was traded here and said he was happy that he didnt have to get beat up by Howard every day in practice anymore? If your trade happens imagine what he would do to Lopez!
No glass door anywhere would be safe.

Hit the nail right on the head.
