So you rather he just walk away after next year for nothing? You're getting one of the best young pg's in the league, an active and defensive presence in JSmoove and a serviceable big in Pachulia who has always performed when given minutes.

Trade one of the top 3 point guards in the NBA for what?
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

And this works in trade checker too: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=44vhal7

Hawks would have to be insane (an actual mental disease spreading among managment) to do something like that.

Where - the original post or my response? I think ATL gets a rental Nash and loses a nice young player in Teague, swaps JSmoove for Gortat. I like Gortat a lot, the way I like Duds - great work ethic, great attitude, makes the absolute most of his talents but .... he's not JSmith.

No we're not, we're getting Teague.

Smith maybe more talented than Gortat but not more important. Smith never developed a refined outside game and struggles against longer players inside. Suns would go back to getting murdered inside and on the glass.

Really the only way I'd want Josh Smith at all would be to play alongside Nash and Gortat who'd be able to highlight his strengths and hide his weaknesses. Smith is a complimentary player and if the Suns are giving up Nash and Gortat they need someone they can build around.

I'd do something like this instead:

RoLo, Pietrus, #13 for
Josh Smith

Would work under the cap on draft day. Maybe Hawks get a better offer but I doubt it.

Return to Phoenix Suns
