Add any player in NBA history to the Suns, but...

Slow summer... 8-)

Add any player in NBA history, in their prime, to our current roster but it can't be one of the immortal six (MJ, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Magic, Bird). Who would you pick and how good would our team be?

I'd go with Hakeem. Trade Lopez + Morris + Warrick for Mayo + Arthur.

Nash/Brooks
Mayo/Dudley
Childress/Pietrus
Gortat/Arthur
Hakeem/Frye

Unstoppable. Back to our amazing 2nd unit with Frye (paired with an athletic PF) and Dudley with Brooks and a defensive/spot shooting Pietrus. Our starters could destroy just about any team scoring wise with a mixture of shooting, slashing and excellent inside offense AND defense.

^I immediately thought Hakeem as well haha

But...I think I'd honestly go with Prime Kobe.

He is essentially everything we're lacking at the 2

Nash
Kobe
Hill
Frye
Gortat
---
Dudley
Brooks
Warrick
Lopez
Childress
Pietrus
Morris

Ugh I can't believe I said that.

David Robinson. Best team in the league barring injury.

For me it's a toss up between 00' Shaq, 95' Hakeem, 06' Kobe and 04' KG. If we were to put a prime Shaq at center surrounded by spot up shooters (Frye, Dudley, Nash) the opposing team would have trouble doubling him. I think a prime Hakeem is on par with Shaq and the FT% is better. Gortat would be an unreal backup big behind Shaq/Frye or next to Hakeem. I think that team would win the Championship next year. In their best seasons Shaq nearly averaged 30/14 and Hakeem 24/14/5.

I would take a prime KG over Duncan because he's athletic enough to run the pick n roll and could pop from anywhere within 18 ft. He lead the league in rebounding and KG/Gortat would be by far the best defensive frontcourt in the league. KG in his best season averaged 24/14 and won MVP.

Tough decsion at SG with Kobe/Wade but Kobe is the 2nd best SG in NBA history and gives us what we probably need the most, a versatile scorer who can score and attack from anywhere on the court. One of the only players in NBA history to average 30/5/5 for a whole season. I can't picture him in a Suns' uniform but he was our 1st choice over Nash in 2004.

Honorable mention for Lebron but he has trouble being effective without the ball and we know his issues in the Finals. I'd also love to have seen a prime Dr J in our system for a year.

Robinson is underrated. People hate on him because of one playoff series. Pretty dumb.

Definitely a long, athletic 4, and one who could at least play some D.

I hate the guy now, but prime KG, before he became a tool, would be epic.

For **** and giggles, I also think a prime Kemp would be hell fun to watch with Nash.

Yeah and I think he fits with the team much better than Hakeem. Basically a bigger Amare/Dwight hybrid only more skilled offensively than Amare and a more dominate defender than Dwight.

Robinson is overrated, dude didn't accomplish anything until riding Duncans coattails.

I'd take a prime Shaq instantly or Michael Jordan.

The answer couldn't be anyone except Tim Duncan.

Excuse me?
So we clarly lack a two, MJ happens to be the best ever to play this position (the best ever to play... period) and we are taking Hekeem (to play PF besides Gortat?), Robinson, Shaq (Shaq could be arguable) or Kobe in his prime.

Come on... Jordan, Nash, Hill, Frye, Gortat, Dudley, Pietrus, Brooks, Morris, Lawal... even López would seem to be good.

Excuse me... did you read the OP?

Yeah I can't understand some of the ignorance on this board, at least take time to read the FIRST post before you reply.

In any case, I can't believe people will actually go to the lengths of picking Robinson/Duncan/Kobe, players from our most hated, rival teams. Kobe or Tim are obviously the easiest choices, but you just can't be a Suns fan and want them on your team, just doesn't feel right.

I would have to stick with my Dream selection, but I would love to see prime KG or Drexler on this squad as well. KG would make our defense look unstoppable, and offensively provide us with just about everything Amar'e did.

in the "expansion draft" thread... you included Morris as protected, when the OP clearly stated in #2: Unsigned draft picks are not available for the expansion team to draft.

can you not understand the ignorance of yourself?

Unsigned. I'd assume if the expansion team were to happen this year, that it would obviously wait till after the CBA was finalized. As soon as that happens and before expansion would go through, Morris would be signed (because we have every intention of doing so). So, with that in mind, I would rather protect Morris over Dowdell/Brooks/Carter/Hill (who has stated he wants to go win). So, you can say I'm ignorant, but from my perspective, I knew what I was doing.

Robinson was better facing up and much better compliments the players the Suns already have(mainly Nash) than does Hakeem.

Biggest need is a PF, or a center who is athletic and mobile enuf to PnR with Nash, face up, and switch onto perimeter players on defense.

In other words, any of Garnett, Duncan, Hakeem, D-Rob, Chuck, K.Malone

Honestly, since we have Gortat to rebound the ball and play D, I'm not sure if I wouldn't just go with Amare.
