Goodbye Grant Hill? :(

Post#1 » by SUN » Mon Jul 4, 2011 5:44 pm

The veteran Grant Hill wants his career to be topped off with a ring the way Jason Kidd was able to recently do. From the Boston Globe: “Many remember Hill as an athletic swingman with a flat-top haircut catching alley-oops from Bobby Hurley and winning national titles for Duke. But 17 years after he was the third overall pick in the draft by the Pistons, Hill remains without an NBA title, with a twice-reconstructed ankle but the desire to continue. He watched Jason Kidd, a fellow rookie of the year, win his first title last month, and is willing to keep striving for an opportunity to play in the Finals. Hill’s career has gone from one of promise, to misfortune, to longevity, and he is willing to wait out a potentially long lockout. ‘You definitely want to win, especially when you see somebody you are kind of linked to and somebody you have known for many years get there,’ Hill said last week. ‘I don’t have too many more years left, so we have to wait and see. But it would be nice to do what [Kidd] was able to do this past season.’ Because of several ankle surgeries, Hill stands just 21st among active players in games played with 948. In fact, Kidd has played 319 more regular-season games than Hill, or the equivalent of four seasons. The Celtics’ Paul Pierce, who entered the NBA four years after Hill and lost 32 games of his rookie season to a lockout, has played in 16 more regular-season games than Hill. So, it’s not surprising that Hill, a pending free agent, feels he has something left, and he’s flourished the last four seasons with the Suns, playing 313 of a possible 328 games, and averaging 13.2 points last season, his best in four years. He could be attractive to a team pushing for a title, a versatile, intelligent, and still skilled player who knows how to win.” http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/20 ... footsteps/

According to the article he'd like a ring like Jason Kidd.

Of course he wants a ring. I don't think that necessarily means he'll be leaving.

He's stated in the past that he doesn't want to leave Phoenix and would rather retire, but after seeing his close friend and co-rookie of the year winner Jason Kidd win a ring this season, his thoughts might have changed. Maybe he'd like to go to Dallas for one last try, but I think Boston + Orlando seem like better options for him.

Grant Hill would like a ring?

SHOCKER.

Sorry, this article says nothing. Kidd was an older player that finally won his first ring. Hill would like the same thing. There's nothing about him potentially going to a different team or anything. Hill has already stated he likes playing in Phoenix.

I would LOVE for G.Hill to win a ring, class act through out.

he might need to do it for the 2012-2013 season though...

and to which team?

I think unless he joins Miami Heat, his chances are below 10% (Bulls, Spurs, Celtics, Lakers etc)
I believe Heat with that "pain of finals lost", will be a much better team whenever the next season resumes.

To be honest, I'd rather he leave so JChill will have a chance to play. Still, I'll respect his decision regardless. He's always been such a class act.

I'd agree, but its not like Hill is washed up. Dude is playing like he's 28.

Add to that, the fact is he looks like he's the only one who gives a damn on the court every night.

Exactly. As long as he can give it a go, and do what he's doing, I don't give a damn....he's on this team.

Grant Hill would be a great addition to Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka & company. He wouldn't start, but there would be a lot of minutes for him & his leadership would mean a lot to the kids. Not suggesting he's leaving the Suns. Just saying we would love to have him on our team too.

If Hill wants a ring and wants to help the Suns maybe they could do something like:

re-signed Hill + Pietrus for Jermaine O'Neal + Avery Bradley + pick

Return to Phoenix Suns
