Being a SUNS FAN!
I found this online:
A Diehard fan should do Anything for his/her team. Whenever there's a big game, they can't let anything get in their way. A diehard fan sticks with their team no matter what. If their favorite basketball team is out of contention by All Star break, a diehard fan will follow their team quarter by quarter, noting statistics and scores, thinking of moves to make to get the team better.
Many diehard fans don't live anywhere near where their team plays. If their team is a lesser-known team, there's a big chance they won't be on TV a whole lot. If this is the case, get on nba.com and follow them with the Tracker. If they live long distances away, they should make a point of attending at least one game a year.
A diehard fan should know most, if not all of the roster. They should also know a fair amount of historical facts about the team and what they were like in previous years.
I am a diehard Suns fan and I live in Illinois. I fit all of the above criteria of a diehard fan.
A Diehard is someone who sticks with their team no matter how bad they are or no matter how good they are. A true Diehard fan does not switch teams because they are having a bad season, thats called a Bandwagon.
IN my opinion it seems like there is a fair share of PLAYER fans on this thread not SUNS fans?
ask yourself
if nash leaves will i follow the suns?
if the suns tank and lose will i still follow the suns?
WHY ARE YOU A SUNS FAN? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ONE? SHARE YOUR STORY....... THANKS

My story starts in Elementary school. Frank Johnson and Cedric Ceballos visited us and shot around for a community reach project. Ever since then I followed the SUNS and not going to lie the BULLS as well

Re: Being a SUNS FAN!
I'd actually guess there are more true fans here than fans who would leave because of a player or losing record - there are some of both but a LOT of current posters have stuck around through good and bad.
I know I could never not be a Suns fan, no matter what. The way I started was kinda silly, actually. I wasn't at the time really affiliated with one team or another, and my friend had just gotten one of the really early NBA video games (don't even remember which game/series), which happened to have the Suns in it. I just totally randomly happened to play as the Suns a couple times, and liked the players so I became a lifelong Suns fan! The funny thing is, as I recall it was mostly scrubs who I liked in the game - no idea why. As I said, kinda silly but I'm hooked for life.

crazy thing about me is I am one of the leading candidates for a Human Resource Manager for the Los Angeles Clippers. I will have to cheer on the organization but will always love the suns!

Re: Being a SUNS FAN!
I'm a loyal Suns fan for life but definitely not a die hard one. I can't attend any NBA games because I'm so broke, and I know very little about our team's history because to be honest, I don't really care. All I know is we came so close to getting Kareem, and we came so close to a championship when Barkley was playing with us.
Even though I root for different teams every now and then, I will always be a Suns fan regardless of its owner (2nd worst in the league right now) or players. I'm an avid believer of trading Steve Nash and go on a rebuild. Therefore, I root for our team to lose.
I became a Suns fan after reading about this on my local paper back in Hong Kong.

Still hurts.
I always ask myself why I became a Suns fan, since our owner is such a **** a$$hole who should die a horrible death only after being tortured by Method Man and Raekwon.
It hurts a lot to love this team, you know, especially when your best friends are either rooting for the Lakers or the Magic (that guy became a fan of the team the moment Howard was drafted) or the Heat (that guy had always been a fan and stuck by the team during that horrible season when Wade and O'Neal were both injured).
If I could do this all over again, the Suns will definitely not be my fav team. Do I regret being a Suns fan at this moment? Kinda, but it's not like I can and will do anything about it, since I love the franchise.
I mean it's kind of like marrying someone who's quite a bitch and doesn't really care about you. You know it's bad and you wish you've never met him / her, but since you did, you love him / her deeply even though the feelings are far from mutual. You know he / she just cares about your money, but you don't care, hoping that someday she'll return your love and affection. You want to have babies with him / her but he / she is reluctant... Kind of irrelevant at this point so I'll just let it be.

What gives you the right to state that many people here aren't Suns fans, but in fact player fans?? People like myself have been posting on here for years. Relationships have been built on this board, and as a well.. "family" we have endured through the thick and thin.
So you can understand why I'm annoyed when a guy with a name associated with Michael Beasley comes into a board, and starts a thread just to question our loyalty to a team we have been following for years.
Anyway, my apologies if that wasn't your intention. I became a Suns fan when I was 11. Every day after school I used to go on nba.com and check box scores and read forums and stuff. As a kid that was 11, I was as die hard as you can get. (Except for the part about attending a game once a year.... Which is amost impossible due to my circumstances). Nowadays, I'll say I'm not as an "intense" Suns fan, but thats mostly due to the fact that my life now is much more busy than when I was younger. Haha

Born and raised in PHX. My best friend in elementary/JH school dad was a Suns player so naturally I loved the team because I got ridiculous perks like meeting the players, going to shoot arounds on the practice court, arriving in limos, etc. It was awesome.

Hey, let's post more videos of Robert Horry losing his mind. I can't wait to watch that again.

Re: Being a SUNS FAN!
I'm 21, and have always been a Suns fan even as a kid. I became a "die hard" fan when Nash joined. I was never a Nash fan before, but it's crazy how "hooked" I was to the Suns after he came. I haven't missed a game since 2004. I've missed/cancelled so many events because of my Suns. I've done so much for this team, and I can seriously say I am a Sun. I've had so many of my gf's break up with me because I always put the Suns over them. My truck has the words S.T.A.T. on the front. I don't mean to change the subject, but LA fans are not LA fans, if you know what I mean.
As some may know, I make yearly Phoenix Suns mixes for each season when the season is over. I have videos from 2004. So much media I look here and there, and it really makes me sad sometimes. It really pisses me off that I lost all my Amare footage of last season
By the way, I'll have this season's mix sometime this week.
No matter what our team looks like, I will NEVER miss a game. Never.

I think we who dream of the Suns winning a championship and are still in full support after last season are pretty darn good Suns fans.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the DP'09 crew have top bragging rights for the "ridiculous lengths" contest (althoug jdiddy sounds like he'd give 'em a run for their money).

A bunch of the Australians (and one Kiwi) on this board decided to follow the Terry Porter Seven-Seconds-or-Shaq Suns through a road trip and home stand (with a trip through Europe as well).
They essentially spent $15,000+ apiece to watch the SSOL Suns die a horrible death.
But it was pretty fantastic anyway. I was their local guy - I drove them around Phoenix when they were here for the home stand, and got to ride their coattails. We played a pickup game in a park with a bunch of random guys, got our hopes up for the Cardinals in the SuperBowl in raucous fashion at Hooter's, got to see the Suns win a game versus Sacramento by 50 points, and got to congratulate Lou (and his Dad) in person at Majerle's.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, of course, but there you go.

Re: Being a SUNS FAN!
It was pretty simple for me, I was 7 years old when '93 team went for their run in the FInals. I have been waiting ever since then to relive those moments. Because of that, it made the past 6 years or so pretty painful because of all the heartbreak. I will still stand by the Suns no matter what. I am also a part time Bulls supporter, but thats just because I was a 90's kid and the Bulls dominated that decade.
I hate the Lakers and the Spurs very passionately. Horry and Artest can go suck one.

Re: Being a SUNS FAN!
I have been a Suns fan ever since I was old enough to realize I was watching basketball from my pops knee. From the days of Mad House on McDowell, with Sweet D, and Mo lucas, the drug scandle and the cleaning of house, to the Jeff Hornacek, KJ, Ced Caballos, Tom Chambers, to name a few. I have also been here for some of the years of reaching for has beens to try to lead us like Danny Manning, X Man McDaniel, Hot Rod Williams, the Drafting of promising hopefuls like Richard Dumas and dose any one remember Kenny Battle, I loved watching that guy dunk. I have also been here for the glory years when we aquired a surley superstar named Charles Barkley, and of course the Nash, Amare, Matrix years. I cant watch any other team for a full game because they arent my team, and I cant watch teams I can give two s#$ts about. I would root for the Suns, and ONLY!! the Suns no matter what, wouldnt matter if all of you other people posting in this thread were playing, and got torched every game. I would still hope that we made some offseason moves and got better the next while either sitting in the arena or in front of the tv watching the mess. Questioning people as to thier loyalty to the team is foolish. I am pretty sure everyone on this board thinks they are good enough fans for this team or they wouldnt be here.
