I know the guys knees are a huge issue and is a huge risk for any team. But no one can turn a blind eye to his bball IQ and what he has accomplished in his short career. You also cant forget what our medical staff has done to nash, amare, hill and even shaq. So since the suns want to resign Hill and keep nash, do you make a run at Roy and try to get him healthy and back to somewhat normal if he is cut?

I'd take him only on a cheap deal maybe one year with a player option. But he has to come off the bench since he doesn't really fit next to Nash. He had issues with Andre Miller's style of play. Mybe give to bench a new identidy since we can't run 'n gun the whole time.

Two warriors inside (Morris, Childress) with a defensive minded Dowdell and a playmaking Roy. Sounds fine to me but I doubt Roy signs here if he has the chance to earn more money somewhere else.

I was reading that the team that picks up the player, has to pay a portion of the players current contract year(s), and the team that waived him has to pay the remainder. dont know if the suns have to sign him to the remainder 4 yrs or not.

Sadly, Brandon Roy is done unless he undergoes surgery (microfracture or cartilage replacement). No matter how great our training staff is, they won't be able to re-grow the cartilage in his knees. I wish he would take a note from Grant Hill and take a year or so off to get surgery and properly heal his knees.

Brandon Roy is done and a medical staff can't magically heal knees, sorry.

Plus our medical staff isn't special. What about Googs, Penny, Amare etc all frequently injured. What has our medical staff to do with Nash? He constantly has some harmstring issues and he was never known as an injury-prone player really.

You can't heal his knees. The cartilage in the knee does not re-grow. He can take 20 years off and he is still done.

Signing Roy right now is about the same as signing Penny Hardaway at the very end of his career.

Amare, Jason Kidds etc microfracture surgery worked to an extent, because they had tears, holes on their cartiledges...

Brandon Roy apparently doesnt have any... which means, microfracture surgery wont work, because the blood and cells from the bones (that help create new cartilidges) will not form without surrounding cartilidges... Im no doctor, but this was what I have read about his knee issues.

Cartilidge transplant is the only way to go, but apparently it will wore out very quickly and inflammation of the knees is common for several months....

Well from what I've read, the blood from the microfractured bone will yield "new" cartilidge fibers, as long as it has cartilidge around it, and these fibers wear out quicker than the regular cartilidge. So basically, microfracture surgery is a way to "thicken", reinforce, cover cartilidge defects... but not entire create new ones from nothing.

Also Brandon Roy doesnt have any cartilidge between his tibula and fibula, its bone on bone, not a single layer of cartilidge left.... microfracture surgery blood will just be taken away by the body over time and no fibers will form.

There should be some cartilage in his knees or else he would be in debilitating pain and most likely forced to medically retire. This article has a good explanation on the "bone-on-bone" statement:

bottom line there is no way the Suns should sign the guy unless he came to play for the league minimum.

I agree. It'd be great to grab somebody like him and nurse him back to health, but it realistically isn't gonna happen with how bad his knees have become. I wouldn't mind him being here, but it would have to be for a very, very small amount of money.

Maybe Pietrus could give him the number to the Shoalin Monks who worked on his knees this summer.
