Busy first day - 2 guys waived, 1 re-signed, 2 free-agents added, 1 trade. So are the Suns done? I certainly hope not. I would like to see them give a 1-year deal to one of the veteran FAs out there -- someone who can help the team this year without taking up contract space for the big summer of 2012

I think he meant, are the Suns done with moves/signings? Not are the Suns the worst team in the league?

Sorry. I've been reading so much doom and gloom posts that I just assume a thread with the title "Are the Suns Done" means "Shall we Start Tanking"

As for this offseason, I can't really see any more moves being made. I think our roster is set, unless we make a trade for expirings.

I'd like to add Sean Williams - still young enough to have some upside as a defensive 4/5 who can run

Flip Lopez + Warrick to BOS for Brandon Bass (who I think they got for Big Baby?)

Yes we're done, solid team, 1 and done playoffs and bright things after that. I'm actually excited for the Suns future for the first time in a while. FO has handled this offseason nicely not cutting into finances for 2013, JUST DONT TRADE OUR PICK AT THE DEADLINE!!!

Truth. Rotation looks pretty set. Just a couple of things to sort out during camp:

- Telfair vs Dowdell for backup PG
- Is Markieff ready for backup PF minutes or will we have to rely on Warrick?
- Health of Lopez

A bench of Telfair in the open court pushing to Brown and Chilly (and maybe even Warrick) on the break, with the ruggedness of Morris and Lopez could be fun to watch. Certainly high octane bench unit, that's for sure

Sorry but the Suns should not be forgetting about their pick in the 2012 draft which could be top ten but with all these moves Sarver is doing he will probably ruin any chance we have of the pick ending up in the top ten. What would you rather have a one done team the next two seasons or a new young allstar player added to the roster and shorter time span to rebuild. This Suns team will be lucky to win even thirty games this season don't fool your self just because its a shortened season . I would rather have a high draft pick and not make the playoffs and then in the next free agency attract free agents with the very good player that was drafted and Gortat but that won't happen because Sarver is an idiot who would rather run the Suns into the ground and end up having to spend the next fifteen years rebuilding. So while you all hope they make the playoffs I hope they end up sucking and we get a top ten draft pick it won't take a genius to draft a very good player(all-star type potential) who would contribute right away due to how deep the draft will be .

Azsports77, if you like top 10 draft picks so much you should become a Timberwolves fan. You'll be much happier, they always have some top draft picks and are in a permanent rebuild mode.

i don´t think that we rely on a top ten pick, sarver is doing a good job right now ( never thought i would say this ), the suns are able to sign one or two big fishes next offseason and have a young core to build around, i was happy to see how dowdell looked last season, happy to see how dudley seem to work his arse off. gortat looked good and if markief should turn into a starting caliber pf we´re looking good for the future.

sarver won a little bit of my sympathies when he chose not to resign ama´re.

the biggest concern i have is the health of lowpez, i think the suns should hype him and then trade him for someone like beasley

Now that we have Gortat, all we really need from Lopez is for him to be able to offer 15 quality mpg as a second string C. No pressure on him to regain his old starting form, but if he can then great - another trade asset moving forward.

The Suns are absolutely done unless a major superstar (Howard, Paul, Williams) falls into their lap before the trade deadline.

Next offseason should be really, really good because of we'll have the largest amount of cap space. Suns FO will have these types of options

1) If Howard, Paul, and Williams don't get traded they will be going after them
2) Going after all-star quality restricted free agents (Love, Westbrook, etc)
3) Taking on crappy large contracts for lots of 1st round picks

Either way the Suns should be relevant in year or two without having to tank. To all the naysayers out there the Front Office had a good plan and have executed it well so far.

I really really don´t see Paul, WIlliams or Howard coming to phoenix. They´ll get traded and extend their contracts. Maybe not Deron.

I actually like what the Suns have done this offseason. I think it has been well thought out, haven't panicked, made smart moves to improve the team. I think Childress playing more minutes, and Brown can't be worse then Carter and Pietrus. Hopefully Zabian and Telfair bring the minutes for Nash that he will need.

The only thing, longer term, that would have helped the Suns, was if Nash wanted out and the Knicks wanted him and the Suns could have traded Nash and Warricks contract for Billups and Fields or Schumper - to get even more cap space next summer

but I think a key point of having cap space will be to absorb bad contracts for nominal players in return. or secondarily, front load a contract to make it cost prohibitive for the team to sign the player

I think that was the worst thing about last offseason (and it is Sarvers M.O. to be almost bipolar ) - but the team didn't pay Stoudemire but then signed all these players, traded Barbosa (who I believe had two years left) for Hedo. Frye at the time seemed overpaid, Childress, Warrick, etc. And between Hedo, Frye, Childress and Warrick, they made like $25m combined. I think I would have rather had Amare, Barbosa and twu minimum vet players comparitively for the dollars

This year, smarter moves, thought out, nothing that affects long term plans. Maybe a nice draft of Markieff Morris. I don't expect anything more then a 7th seed - but still, this was a good thought out process
