2012 NBA Free Agents

Post#1 » by Qwigglez » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:50 am

Here's a link to all the potential free agents for 2012.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/2012-nba-free-agents/

Team salary for 2012-
Dallas Mavericks-28mil (Dirk & Marion) They also have Brendan Haywood (8mil), but he will most likely be amnestied after this season.
Houston Rockets-28mil (Martin, Scola, Lowry). I doubt they'll use their amnesty on one of those guys.
LA Clippers-29mil Estimated (CP3, Griffin, Gnomes, Blesdoe).
Phoenix Suns-30mil (Gortat, Frye, Childress, Dudley, Warrick, Morris). Warrick or Childress will most likely be amnestied, so the Suns will be around 24mil-26mil.
Minny, Nets, Kings, Hornets, and potentially Detroit also have cap lower or similar to where the Suns stand.

I felt like since this is a big topic of discussion to make it's own thread, but Mods feel free to move it if you feel it's appropriate.

Love needs to be target number one. Gordon as big FA #2.

Or you can go with Love or Gordon, then split the rest to get two other players?

Lots of potential. Fields would be someone I'd go strongly after as well. Gallinari, Batum...

Going to be a lot of max contracts thrown about. I just hope we get guys deserving of a max contract and not guys who are being overpaid because there are too many teams throwing money about.

#1 target should be Love without a doubt, having him as a PF next to The Gortat would be amazing. Hope we can convince him to come here.

Perhaps we can sell Love and Westbrook on a UCLA thing assuming Westbrook isn't extended.

I've been thinking about the same thing. But for that to happen Westbrook has to continue to balhog in OKC so it pisses of them and KD & they realize he aint max contract.

Westbrook, Price
Brown, Telfair
Dudley, Childress
Love, Frye
Gortat, Lopez

^^thatsbavsolid playoff team and with an improvment it could even be contenders.

I can definitely see us resigning past 2012 if we don't land a PG. Another thought is that if we somehow get westbrook, we could have him @ SG, with Nash @ PG.

Our salary situation next year is looking great for at least 1 max contract. K-Love his from the west coast and all the contending teams out here are over or near the cap. I think Mayo is more realistic than Gordon or Westbrook but we have to hope their current teams don't match offers.

Totally agree, there's no chance that the TImberwolves won't match any offer for Love. I think Gallinari and Gordon could be available for the max. but are they worth it? I don't think so.

Gallinari max? no no. Gordon? Yes. Gordon is in a different league than Gallo and is the next big thing at SG.

Well like I said, if Westbrook doesn't show growth and maturity in his game and personality this year then I don't want him anyway.

And I don't think a huge offer to Love would be matched. I'd imagine a sign and trade might be the best way to do things if it comes down to it.

Who knows. Maybe Love will want to stay if he and Adelman jive.

Westbrook and Love would be the absolute best case scenario. I think Westbrook wants to be the leader of the team and not be behind Durant, but it would be difficult seeing the Thunder not match an offer to Westbrook unless he fusses about staying in OKC. This is where having Aaron Brooks might come in handy with a sign and trade type deal (not sure if that is possible) just to get some sort of compensation.

I'm sure the tradability of AB was part of getting him, much as I hate the trade.
I can see Love wanting to get away from the cold, seriously. Us west coast types can't handle it - it's the kind of thing you need to grow up in. Just not being able to really go outside is very tough psychologically. But a lot depends on how much he likes his teammates and if they start winning anything, I'd expect. you can forgive a lot if the team's winning, right.

How did Minny end up dealing away this year's 1 st rounder, anyway?

i like Loves play but mark my word He is never going to be the main guy on the team to build around.

He is a good rebounder and put back PF but to build a team around that is going to be tough

Suns need to go after

a PG for the future #1 priority

get RUSSEL WESTBROOK (all this get DWILL i would love but he wont come to PHX)

then we need to get a SG for the future as #2 priority

get Eric Gordon or OJ Mayo

then hopefully this year we do not win much and get a top 10 pick and get a PF

we can pick up Jones, Davis, Drummond, Sullinger

imagine a future of this

Westbrook
Gordon or Mayo
Childress
Sullinger/Davis/Jones/ or Drummond
Gortat

find a veteran SF to sign with us!!!!!

Sullinger/Davis/Jones/Drummond would be just as good as getting LOVE

Do you guys really think New Orleans is gonna let Gordon go after they just gave up CP3 for him?

Hell no.

Unless Gordon absolutely hates it in New Orleans (which is unlikely because he's a great character guy & you wont see him complain) there's no way he's playing elsewhere.

i am hoping that morris turn out big for the suns and that we dont need love. the history of phx pgs is long and i think that the top priority should be deron williams. bring him to town as the replacement for nash and sign someone like mayo - start dudley at the 3 spot and you are looking good with
dwill - mayo - dudley - morris - gortat
young, hungry, fast, good

Props to the great one

The only one to convince D-Will to join us would be Dwight Howard. Sign Kevin Love and Eric Gordon, resign Steve and call it a team.

If Dwight isn't traded to Brooklyn this summer, I think we have to go after Deron/Dwight HARD. I know Dallas/Cuban will be doing the same thing so it's going to be a difficult sell, but those two guys are obviously the top two targets. They want to play together, and we can give them that opportunity here.

My next four targets in order of preference would be Love, Westbrook, Gordon, Ibaka. Getting two out of those four would be a successful offseason IMO.

I agree we should try, but in all honesty, its probably less than a 1% chance of happening. Dwight listed Dallas as a preference, D-Will grew up in Texas (even has a Texas-made tattoo), and Cuban is a players-owner while Sarver...is not,

I don't know if we should waste a lot of time or even make it known that Dwight + Deron are our first options, since it seems unrealistic.

I'd rather let it be known that we WANT Love and Westbrook, that they are the guys we targeted first and we want them to lead the Suns. Gotta factor in player ego and nothing I believe strokes a player's ego more than being chosen over someone who the media loves more than them (i.e. Deron, Dwight)

If Nash wants to stay, do you really think that our FO will renounce his rights? If Nash wants to stay, we won't go after Westbrook. Gordon and Love should have our highest priority. Maybe even use the max. on Love and spend the rest on Gallinari and Fields/Mayo/Batum
