Knicks fan here
Not coming on to bash your team. Just coming here to praise Nash. Not trying to be rude at all. but I would love to have Nash leave the Suns after this year for NY. You guys have an all world talent and a stand up man in a pg. It's amazing to see someone who is pushing 38 still able to kick ass and be a top flight pg. His shooting and passing is still at it's best.
Has Nash come out and stated what his intentions are after this year? I can easily picture him being able to handle another 2-4 seasons in the NBA. Hopefully you guys can win one with him as long as it's not against the Knicks.

Re: Knicks fan here
I expect he will remain with the Suns. If he wants to be somewhere else, the Suns will accomodate him. But he hasn't asked for that in public, and evidently not in private.
Wish he would ask for a trade. He doesn't have a future here. I love the player immensely, but its time for the Suns to start getting younger talent. His window is closed here.

Re: Knicks fan here
Nash said that he wants to retire as a Sun. Lon Babby said that he wants Steve to retire here. Robert Sarver said the same. As long as Steve doesn't demand a trade, he will be in Phoenix. You'll never know what will happen after a season but the Suns miss the playoffs it'll be a new situation. I think he'll will wait and see what our team will look like after next off season to choose Phoenix or a contender. I would love to see him in New York though.
Hill on Nash going to the Lakers: “That’s like transferring from Duke and going to Carolina.”

Re: Knicks fan here
I admire the hell out of Steve and while he's said flat-out he wants to finish what he started here (and re-started, and started again and again, trade after trade after trade), I'd love for him to go to NY. It would make so much sense with Amar'e, MIke D and that fact he lives there in the offseason and has a business there.
But the Suns have never groomed anyone to replace him, when they could have had one of the best teachers around. It will kill the gate to lose him and the team will go straight to the cellar. NY has little to offer so it would need to be a deal where PHX at least gets back the trade exception ... there is likely to be a wholesale rebuild after this year anyway
Bottom line - to appease the fan base and not kill his business, it would need to be a deal where Nash and Babby could say, "Steve offered to go so the team could start rebuilding, much a she wanted to stay and we wanted to keep him, it was the only logical business move." Everyone looks good ...
Love watching your Knicks this year - you guys deserve it after The Wilderness Years, Good luck

Re: Knicks fan here
Watching an aging Steve Nash kill himself trying to carry a team on his back is not going to sell many tickets either. Steve just does not have the gate appeal without a real team around him.
I'd take Shumpert for Nash, just to get something for the future.

Re: Knicks fan here
It's really hard watching Nash run this team when we don't have particularly good talent. He just deserves much better than playing in mediocrity like this. Of course I want him to get a ring and that isn't happening in Phoenix before he retires.
It's a sticky situation for the team too. Nash is what sells for Suns fans. That's why many still buy tickets and merchandise. He's our star, and the team can't legitimately trade him without taking a hit financially. So he stays in Phoenix (at least for this year). I pray the Suns can build a good team with the cap space they'll have next year. Either we compete next year and sign him to a new deal or his contract expires and he goes somewhere else to compete. The man deserves a ring.

Re: Knicks fan here
I can picture Nash still being able to shoot around 50 percent from the field, 40 behind the arc and still make great passes to get 10 dimes plus a game. Plus if Nash just stops driving to the lane all of the time, it will save some abuse on his body and he can just become more and more of a passer.
Knicks, Lakers, Heat and a couple of other teams would all love to have Nash for a couple of years. It makes too much sense. It's amazing to see what Nash is still able to do at the age of 38 playing with Grant Hill, Lopez and Dudley.

Re: Knicks fan here
Basically, what Nash said were "the right things" (ie he would let the situation play out, would like to stay, all that). I do think he is very disappointed after Sarver decided to gut the team after the 09-10 season (he did go on record as to say he would like to contend again with the same team).
Don't rely him playing 35 mins a night. He's still effective enough but you would really want a legit backup for this guy (unlike Mike D era Suns when our backup point is Marcus Banks).
Oh, and FYI, he essentially played 30 mins a game during the second half of the 09-10 season. That was actually his best season ever. He can maintain the same level of production despite of less minutes.

If Nash hasn't left by now, or been disruptive by now, or anything by now, then he's not.
He's not like the primadonna losers that act this way that make us come to expect any supremely talented player on a meddling team to act that way.
He's had ample opportunity to leave, to act out of line, or to even privately request a trade.
He hasn't.

Exactly, so if the Suns don't get actual value in return they won't trade him.

Steve is still a top 5 PG, and a top 5 PG of all time. He doesn't deserve the crap team he is on now and I would love to see him get traded to NY this year, I think the Knicks would almost certainly win the championship if Nash ends up there. He knows D'antoni's system already and runs a mean Pick n Roll with Amare.

Re: Knicks fan here
I would love to send Nash and Hill to the Knicks - they would be an instant threat in the east.
ESPN trade machine seems to not work when 4 teams are involved - cannot get a status report if it is "good" or not - but according to the numbers (every team takes on about 18 millions) it should work
Suns get: (2 players with short contracts, perfect for a full rebuild this year)
=========
J-Rich
Chris Duhon
Knicks get: (an awesome cast of Nash/Fields/Anthony/Stoudemire/Chandler with Davis, Hill...)
==========
Nash
Hill
Warrick
Magic get: (something back, maybe they can include a pick or whatever - Dwight is gone anyway)
==========
Okur
Morrow
Petro
Nets get: (Lopez, Howard and Williams is a nice core to build on)
=========
D. Howard
I would be rooting for the Knicks while enjoying this year's mission to rebuild the Suns at last.

Prediction for this season: Spurs beat Heat 4:2 in the finals (the revenge of Pop)
I don't like it, but it is highly possible this season with IND and OKC struggling

Re: Knicks fan here
HAHA - can't believe everybody was taking this messing around with the trade machine SOOO seriously -
Listen, of course this would never even be considered - I was kinda feeling sad for Nash and Hill at the time and was forcing some crappy trade to get them to the Knicks. Frustration and a little bit too much to drink I guess
LMAO at all the knowitalls in this forum, it's kinda sad that most of the current users just like to bash and trash other people's posts...never mind I still laughed

Herman, brother, if I misread your joke as a legitimate idea, i apologize. But re-reading it it sounds dead serious and given some of the other, frankly, barking mad ideas we've all seen posted, try to understand why you got the eye-rolling and horselaugh. There's a reason green font is available ....
