Steve Nash to Indiana?
Just curious what it would take to get him. I hope they go after him as a free agent and someone like Ray Allen so the team can contend and also keep their assets to trade later. If they had to trade for him this season to get him though, what would it take?
The first piece I'd offer is Darren Collison who is 24. If they acquired Nash, they wouldn't need Steve Nash, Darren Collison, George Hill, A.J. Price and Lance Stephenson who they are grooming to be a point guard. So now we've got Darren Collison(24yrs old, 1.45mil) for Steve Nash(38yrs old, 11.69mil), what else? -- Went ahead and listed Nash as 38 because his his birthday is 30 days away. Also, they Pacers have cap space so they wouldn't necessarily have to match contracts.

By the way, sorry to start another thread about trading for Steve Nash. I'm sure it gets really old. I'd probably just merge em and start a Steve Nash trade proposal thread or something seeing as you guys will probably get a lot of people passing through during the season to offer trades you don't want.

I think that Collison alone is not worth Nash. You have to at least include a pick (top 10 protected?) and take on Childress. Personally I don't think that Indiana should trade for Nash and just go after him in free agency. You have a nice group of young guys and I would love to see how you develop in the next years. Nash won't make you a contender anyway.

Again, Nash's value right now is about what Kidd's was when he was traded to Dallas. The Nets got Devin Harris, 2 1st rounders (08,10), and a bunch of scrubs to make the money work.
Add some 1st rounders to Collison and you've got a deal.

Yeah, Collison really isn't a factor for the Suns. Suns could choose to retain Aaron Brooks if they wanted.

I think that was 2 seasons ago.
Nash is one bad ankle sprain or back strain from losing a huge chunk of production, the body recovers much slower and further away from optimum the older you are.

2 seasons ago when Kidd wasn't playing as well as Nash still is. If Nash isn't going to net something the Suns can legitimately build around then there is no point in trading him.

I would let Nash and Hill go to Indiana for Collison, Paul George and first round pick.

I'd do it without the pick, but Indiana wouldn't.

Problem is, Nash won't be traded / walk. He'll resign, and eventually retire a Sun.
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed
The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

Re: Steve Nash to Indiana?
@PHX#7 So do I, tbh, but George should be included in any deal.
However, as I said on the other thread, we can have decent team next season with resigned Nash, high pick and max player (Gordon hopefully).

Not high on Collison, but it would be crazy to think Nash, at his age and his contract situation (4 - 5month rental?) would net us anything more than a young talent like Collison. I just can't see any young teams giving up much for an oldie like Nash. To get Collison and some scrubs, and even a late 1st would be pretty decent for Nash right now.
BurningHeart made a good point about teams who would be willing to trade with us. I know he's making the point beacuse he doesn't want Nash traded, but there is truth to what he's been saying. The old teams who want him have no rebuilding pieces to give to us, old teams who have good pieces don't need him to dominate the ball and young teams won't give up youngsters for a few months of Nash.
I would love to move Nash and grab good young talent or picks but that's unlikely, so at this point, I'd seriously consider a trade centered on Collison.

Can't compare Kidd and Nash's stats. They are totally different point guards. Kidd was playing as well as he's always played when he was traded. Dallas got what they wanted from the PG position, defense, leadership and a pure point. Also keep in mind, Kidd was 34 when he was traded, while Nash would be 38 if he was traded this season.

Kidd most certainly wasn't playing as well as he always had and not close to what Nash did last year. Kidd was already evolving into the type of player he is now, which is more of a spot shooter with some playmaking.

He was virtually the same player he had always been. Still putting up the same assist numbers in his last 51 games with the Nets. His assist% was about as high as it ever was at 45.5%. The only thing that changed was the small drop in minutes and his eFG% pushing close to .500 in his 29 games in the first year with the Mavs. He wasn't evolving into the spot up shooter he is today, he adjusted his game when the Mavs required him to be a ball handling spot up shooter.
But like I said, you can't just compare their stats and say Nash is better. They are and have always been different players. The only thing I can agree with is that while Nash's shooting is as good as ever (maybe even better with age), Kidd's defense was in decline.

I don't want to see Nash in Indiana. Would rather see him retire in PHX. I only want to see Miami, New York, OKC.

You really want to see Steve Nash, our living legend, in Miami? What's wrong with you?

Re: Steve Nash to Indiana?
I would try very hard not to watch the games if Nash went to the Heat, but I would probably fail and hate myself
I can root for the Mavs to win it because I'd like to see Dirk and Trix get a ring, but I can't find anyone on Miami to feel good about. Battier is not enough.
