So what's up with Childress?

Post#1 » by NewWolvesOrder » Sat Jan 14, 2012 3:55 pm

Why is this guy getting no PT on your team? Josh was very good with the Hawks before his Euro stint. I can't believe he lost his game like this. Is he nursing any chronic injuries that prevent him form playing up to his potential? Is he buried behind much better players? Maybe your coach hates him?

BTW, how about Gortat and Childress for Beasley, Johnson and Pekovic?

Josh is ok just losing the numbers game right now. Our roster is packed with wings where he plays and his one weakenss is a reliable outside shot which our offense kind of relys on for spacing. But from what ive heard he is all healed up its nothing like last year when he had the broken finger.

what's up is the Sarver and his goons spent the money that could have been used to re-sign Amare on a bunch of mediocre players (including Childress) that all do the same thing, play the same position and in general are the same players. And now instead of having a real NBA lineup, they have one Star (Nash) and a bunch of OK players that will not take this team anywhere. All you can do is wait years until their contracts are up and start over.

Re-sign Amare? yep, that would be the best thing for the Suns. So when Nash retires, we are stuck with a $60 million man, with a slew of injuries. In fact, he now has two more injuries, one being a back injury that took him out for six months. He is pretty much a jump shooter (a decent one) but he totally shies away from contact now. Diaw has torn him apart already this year. And MGasol rip him a new one the other night. When his team needed him most in that game he went 1-7 for six points and three boards.

Heck I think I would rather have Morris.

All the deals we signed weren't the best deals, and I can totally agree with that, but they are movable pieces, because they are more middle contracts. Warrick worked on his shot, and can be instant offense off the bench. Frye is starting to come around with his shot, and he at least boarded while his shot was off.

As for the topic, I have been asking this for the past four to five games. When we needed defense, we fail to put in one of our best defenders to go with a chucker in Brown. Chilly is a vet and I trust him in the line up ten times more than Brown or Telfair. I think the main problem is that Gentry is trying to tank, without making it too obvious. That or he is totally inept.

I have no interest in trading Gortat, unless I am getting Rubio and a solid big (I would take AR, not really solid but something to build with).

You have to understand that the Suns haven't had a solid center since Alvin Adams. West was serviceable but lacking the touch that Gortat. KT was solid, but poorly used here.

Lopez is not Johan Petro bad, but he is frustratingly mediocre with flashes of pretty-good, along with an emotional nature of the self-defeating type.

So Chilly didn't even get in the game, at all? That's insane ...

I like this trade:

20 Spalding basketballs & 100 kg of isostar powder <----> Childress.

Or

2 bags of peanuts <-----> Childress.

No negotiations. Instantly.

Man, if we want to trade Chilly we have to showcase him a bit or he's literally just a salary matcher in another trade, or straight up for a pick or something. He has the ability to perform and defend so giving him some minutes would serve us well either way.

With regard to the trade I have no interest in trading Gortat, unless it was in a package where we got an almost-equal big back and vastly improved on something else.

Including Childress in ANY trade is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

You are just devaluing the other player(s) in that trade. Childress can be amnestied next year, and should be. Then you get full value for Gortat, and not half because Childress is involved.

At least Warrick produces for us when given the minutes, and the fact we can play him at the 3 or the 4 makes it even better.

Why in your right mind would you Amnesty Warrick over Childress? Why?

Don't amnesty anyone - doesn't matter enough to waste the money. Waive telfair, that's about it.

Childress is total misunderstanding. After John Koncak contract, the Childress's one is the most horrible in NBA :)))))))))))))))))) Waiving him will hurt less then glueing him back to the bench.

Waiving Warrick make no sense. He produces at mid rate as a bench wing. We can trade him with litlle problem - but still - trade. At least for pick and another bad contract.

Hill can be done, unfortunately. Just look in his eyes. He's hurt. And he's 40 yo. Game over?

NAsh is silently going to be traded soon????

I dunno, I still cling to the opinion that Childress could be built up to have positive trade value. Currently yes he's basically a net negative in a trade, but I do think he's capable of playing at a fairly high level. His contract ensures that he'll never be a HUGE trade asset, but he could at least be one.

Your Clinging Mik!

He didnt deserve that contract at all, but thats what happens when you hire his former agent. Childress best year was 06-07, where he averaged 13/6. Thats with him getting 36 minutes. Playing a fairly high level? My ass! If he was any good, we would be using him! If he was any good, we wouldnt have signed Redd/Brown. He sucks. Babby got him one last payday to make up for telling him to go play in Greece instead of staying in Atlanta. Just like ref's and their "make-up calls", this was a "make-up signing".

Suns wouldn't trade Gortat for Beasley when we could just keep Gortat and offer Beasley a huge contract over the offseason. Now if you want Lopez for Beasley, that would be fine.
