While in Phoenix D'Antoni showed that he could coach a team to the WCF if given talent & the Suns were very successful while he was head coach. The main knock on him is that his teams played no defense and he did not preach it or practice it in the SSOL system he ran.

Would the Suns consider re-signing D'Antoni (with Elston Turner as defensive coordinator) and reuinite him with a newley extended Nash for one more run?

SSOL v2.0 = SSOL v1.0 + defense

Suns would then draft / Trade/ FA players to fit SSOL 2.0.

As much as I despise Gentry's lackluster rotations, nothing is worse than D'Antoni's system in the NBA right now. If your offense can't thrive without Steve Nash, as Steve is shortly on the departure, then I see no point in even firing Alvin.

Besides, if getting the team to the WCF is some criteria, then Gentry is as good as D'Antony...

No to D'Antoni. We don't have the players that would be needed to run Mike's offense correctly. We have no real backup point guard.

And no to Sloan as well. The dude took a few minutes just to formulate a sentence when interviewed at quarter's end a few years ago, doubt he is any sharper. So all we would have is an angry possible senile old coach, witha cast of misfits.

However, I am fine with letting Gentry go. Sign Bill Laimbeer in the offseason, along with Jeff Hornacek as lead assistant, either Kareem or Hakeem as big man coach, and keep any other assistant that can crunch numbers and get the max out of each or any lineup (I suggest Los Soles).

Re-sign both Nash and Brooks, sign or draft a strong SG (preferably one with some height and some defensive capabilities), and or SF with same attributes, sign Lou and Illy, hopefully we already traded Lopez for some kind of pick, move Frye to second string center with Lou by his side, re-sign Hill for second unit leader, and watch a well organized selfless team rule the West. I am all for trading Morris now, he looks so lazy out there lately if we can get a pick.

So my starting unit would be Nash, rook/FA, Chilldress, Illy, Gortat and bench of Brooks, Dudley, Hill, Lou, Frye, with the bench guys that rarely see the court of Warrick, Sean Williams if available, and Lighty or another second rounder if we can buy one from 2012.

Dantoni is a horrible coach and if he doesn't have a "Nash" type of player his system wont work.

Our defense would get 5 times worse with Dantoni as our coach.

He doesnt play young players or coach defense. You can't rebuild and have a coach who hates teaching or playing young players. So thats a no.

if it already hasn't been confirmed. Pringles is a gimmick coach.

GOD no. D'Antoni couldn't get it done with our crazy talented team how would he be able to with this one?

How exactly would that team rule ANYTHING? A bunch of role players around Gortat and an aging Nash. I know Nash has defied his age and is still playing incredible but it will catch up to him. He will hit a wall, and when he does we can't be stuck with a team of role players and no pg to make them productive.

Brooks is NOT the answer in anyway. Hill and Nash need to go. Childress and Warrick are overpaid for what they give and Sean Williams has already proven to be a10th man.

Well, a team with a bunch of role players is exactly what we had in 2012, and as long as the team plays with only the team in mind, then role players is all you need to go far in the playoffs. Remember the great almighty Stat only averaged 6.6 rebounds throughout that 2012 playoffs. It was the role players that got the job done.

As for your hypothetical wall that Nash is bound to hit what proof do you have to back that statement? Is it any greater than my 2012 team's ability? Meh, it is just your opinion against mine, just that mine has already been proven to work.

the NEW SUNS era = Balance...... and Nash is 38 years old not 28 years old, if the Suns have a rookie that resembles Nash or Magic Johnson then yes... let's rebuild a new SSOL team... but no.... Price and Telfair arent gonna cut it...
