No to Sloan, he is way too old. I say we offer Thibs big money to leave Chicago.

Tom T is great but I dont think there is anyway we can lure him away from Chicago who is poised to make a run for the title.

Our only hope is if he REALLY loves to golf.

The last in game interview I saw with Sloan, he looked as if it took him five minutes to answer simple questions. There is a reason he isn't coaching in the league right now.

As for Thibs, he is frustrated with the lowballing he was getting from Chi. Is offering him a large contract enough to get him to leave? Who knows?

Dan'toni was ready to go to CHI but they dicked him around about a solid contract offer and he said, I couldnt' wait any longer - signed with NY. This is when MD was a hot commodity

so no surprise they are being foolish with likely coach of the year

I dont buy it. He's signed until the end of next season. Only thing i see is maybe the Suns firing him half way through next season and then having Turner take over HC duties. Sarver was pissed that he had to pay Porter for 2 years not to coach our team, so i think maybe he could stomach paying him for half a season.

I don't mind him coming back as along as we get some good players. He's basically taking one for the team this year with zero bench and 3 real starters.

I've always thought of Gentry as the guy who would lead the Suns into a new basketball era. I mean, you can't just make the coach a scapegoat for a talent depleted team like ours.

No one is using him as a scapegoat. The issues I have are quite specific and have yet to be disputed. I grow weary of the thought "the team sucks, so it's ok for our coach to suck as well". The team isn't the most talented, yes, but they can be greater than their sums, if used correctly. If he continues to play guys that make the team worse, and rot on the bench players that make our team better, then he is the issue, not the crap players he chooses to put on the floor.

Chilldress finally got some burn tonight, and I have pointed out that he is our second best two point shooter. Funny I also recently noticed that he is our second best assist to turnover guy. Behind Nash on both categories. Yet Chilldress rots on the bench. Los Soles has pointed out that we are better both offensively and defensively when Price is on the court, leaps and bounds better than Telfail.

Last year it was taking out the hot hand, playing and starting VC, starting Lopez for so long, when he clearly sucked.

His scheduled rotations are terrible, and rarely ever take into consideration who is having a good game. Whoever starts the game, starts the third, unless there is an injury. Even if any of those starters suck incredibly. He almost never benches a guy for lack of effort, or poor performance. But benches guys like Price and Chilldress, who always give it their best.

He lets teams go on huge runs to call timeouts, and then rarely makes a change in that lineup, which gave up that huge lead.

If our bench sucks so bad, why the f*ck play five of them at the same time? The logic that he is doing a good job because our team is limited talent wise is ridiculous, when our starting unit is one of the best in the league. It seems pretty simple to just make sure the guys that make our team worse, don't play, and never play all five bench guys.

But what I really want to hear from the Gentry lovers, is why do you think he is a good coach? Do you not agree that the things I have mentioned have happened? Do you not agree that the stats that Los Soles has brought up about the team being better offensively and defensively when certain guys are on the court as truth? I really don't see the argument for keeping him, other than he is a nice guy, and players like his easy practices.

He has cost us games this year and last. Wow, so he is better than Porter, and has made a few more in game adjustments than D'Antoni.

How is it Gentry's fault that Childress is playing behind Dudley or Hill? The fact is, our team is no good. People keep acting like he's the sole reason for our shortcomings this season.

We are lucky to have Nash or this team wouldn't win 10 games. Gentry is the least of our worries right now. A coach turns talent into a winning product. They don't turn crap into gold.

He is a good coach because when he had some good players, he got them to work together and create a winning atmosphere. Yes, some coaches are better than others, but he has done a fine job so far. I am tired of Gentry being blamed by the lot of you, who are not coaches (which I will point out), who seem to think that you yourselves could do a better job. If it's so obvious, and screaming at him in the face, why hasn't he done it yet? You know why. There's a reason he's in that seat, and it's because he is a professional. And that by extension means he is good at what he does.

Childress, Telfair, Warrick, Price...it's tough to get a winning formula with these guys. Los Soles points out that our Starters are good and the players coming off the bench are no good. What is Gentry supposed to do? Play Stevie Nash 48 minutes a game? Play Gortat 48 minutes? No. That is not possible. So he goes with his next best option, Lopez (his only option). He also pointed out that Frye/Lou combination was great. Well guess what Gentry did? He had those two play together in the second unit in 2010.

People keep complaining about chemistry, but then complain about the coach as well. Guess what, you can break your chemistry by changing the system, and bringing in 3 new guys every year. And what we need now more than ever, in our talent depleted roster is chemistry and stability. How many teams do you see that blame the coach for their short comings, and then fire their coach, only to still suck? The Kings are still the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors are still the Warriors. The Wizards are still the Wizards.

Done passing the blame to the coach? Because it doesn't matter if he's Phil Jackson or Vinny Del Negro. If you guys had your way, we'd be changing our starting lineup every game based on who played well the previous game.

You didn't address any of my points, other than a very limited reason for why you think he is a good coach. Los Soles has also pointed out that we score more points and give up less points when Price is on the floor over Telfail. Yet Gentry chooses Telfail. So Los, has shown numbers that favored certain bench players. So have I. But again, if we talking about the bench separate from the starters as totally sucky, why more minutes/games for guys that make us worse , or why the f*ck play them all together as a unit. That worked three frickin years ago, and really hasn't worked since, but Gentry keeps trying it. Like I have said before he would put sour milk back in the fridge and hope it isn't spoiled tomorrow.

You have no idea about my coaching experience, which clinics I have been through, what coaches I learned from and who I have played for. I have witness great coaches first hand, and have learned from each of them. I have worked with and through their practices, and have learned plays and techniques from many. Lute Olson (ex UofA men's head coach) was probably one of the best I had the privilege to learn from. Just because I am not currently an NBA coach doesn't discredit what I know about coaching.

Gentry isn't the worst coach I have ever seen, even though I may exaggerate him as such, but he is not a good head coach. And he doesn't get the most out of this team. I feel he is a good assistant coach, and I have said I do like how he worked with Goran two years ago.

He was/is a transition coach, and we are at a new chapter of the Suns.

Why would he have to play Nash 48 minutes? Do you really think that is an answer to my points? Did I ever suggest more minutes for Nash? Nope, not once. I have suggested that Nash and Hill NEVER rest at the same time, but that isn't hard to do when each play around thirty plus minutes. I know they like playing with each other, but I am sure that could handle getting more wins with each other as well. I feel that going that extreme to try and make your point, is extremely weak. Price makes us better than Telfail, sounds pretty simple to play him more.

I just want to say that I think that you and Los Soles place way too much weight purely on stats. Havent you ever heard the term "what he does doesnt show up in the box score"? Lots of things dont show up in statistical data. Like chemistry of the 5 on the floor at any givin time. Or setting good solid picks. Or rotating consistantly on defense. Or taking charges. Or fatigue. Or boxing out so a teammate can get the rebound. Or how someone is feeling on any givin day.

There is much more to coaching than just looking at numbers and I agree whole heartedly with sunskerr.

What you do with disecting every move you dont like with Gentry I could do with any coach in the league quite frankly.
