Lotto pick. If Nash is leaving his value will never be higher than right now.

How about Roddy +Wright +17th Pick + Odom + $3 Million cash to use on Odom's $2.4 Million buyout ?

The Suns need more quality, not quantity. We have enough bench players. Gortat is the only starter we currently have on our roster.
Gortat = starting caliber center on a good contract
Roddy + Wright + 17th Pick + Odom + $3 Million = spare parts

Re: Gortat ?
Roddy B could be our 2, though he's a tad short. Not a bad defender when motivated, it's said.
Wright is just a body.
We could try Odom out before buying him out - if he wants to come back to the league an puts in an effort, he'd be great for us. a better Diaw. also, no more tv show
That's not a bad deal at all

Re: Gortat ?
We can get Odom and maybe even Beaubois for free since Dallas wants to clear up as much cap space as possible. And you want to trade a starting caliber center for this bad package?

This.
I do like Wright these last few months. He really seemed to be more aggressive and almost worth his lotto status.
Last year Denver really lucked out and grabbed Brewer and Fernandez for nothing from Dallas. It would be great if it was us this coming year.

Re: Gortat ?
Everyone needs to understand that the suns are in the position of power right now. We are way way under the cap. Because of that any trade we do can and will be one-sided. Meaning we will be on the receiving end of the better part of the trade. Maybe the suns of the last 4-5 years who were over the cap would have made a crappy deal like this one from a mavs fan but we are in a way better position.
Basically for the mavs to get gortat it would have to involve multiple draft picks and a star player in return which they don't have.
Remember having cap room is power now!!!

Exactly. Exactly what we DON'T need is to rid ourselves of our only quality starter for an even bigger bench, or in other words, non quality starters. It's crazy how little value so many Suns fans here have for Gortat. I think there would be an outcry over the bigger fanbase though if Gortat was traded for a bunch of worse pieces or a pick worse than where we got Lopez/Morris.
But as I've said before, Gortat won't be traded before the draft because the Suns want to keep Nash and trading Gortat before they know about Nash is counter-intuitive. Draft is before free agency. Not sure if people here don't know that or if they aren't thinking.

Gortat is a starting center on a mediocre team. On an elite team he comes off the bench. As a career backup center, Gortat made the most of being paired with the best PnR point guard in the leage. However if he is not playing with Nash, or another elite pick and roll PG, then he is back to being a good back up center.
If I am another team I would not trade for Gortat expecting him to be as good as he is when he plays with Nash. I think his production will fall off quite a bit without Nash. Just look at Amare.

That's nonsense. Gortat would be starting for 5 (MIA, OKC, LAC, BOS, PHI) out of 8 teams still playing in the playoffs.

Yeah, he'd be starting as a filler Center on those team, not as a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd option on any of those teams.
For the Suns he developed into a 1st scoring option this past year, and he is not close to being good enough to being a 1st option on a good team.

Re: Gortat ?
Exactly!! Name 10 players at center right now that are better?! These I would consider better.
Bynum
Howard
Duncan-- yes he is a center
Gasol
Chandler
Maybe I am forgetting someone. But that's about it.

False statement !!! The suns system wasn't system of who is the first scoring option. It was Who is open and who is hot at the moment. If the three was there then take it. If the p and r was there take if.
There was no true #1 scoring option. We didn't hAve the players to do that!

Well, there's a huge difference between: "not being good enough to being a starter on an elite team" and "not being good enough to being a 1st option on a good team".

Re: Gortat ?
I'd rather he didn't have to be the first scoring option on our team. I'd love it if we got Gordon and Milsap and he became the 3rd scoring option, but that doesn't mean it's time to trade him for a bunch of scrubs on other teams or low picks. We have enough scrubs as it is.
