NO shopping 10th pick?

It seems they are willing to give up the 10th pick if teams are willing to take the contracts of Okafor or Ariza.

Suns have a lot of room and can easily take the contracts. But what would NO want in return?

I am thinking with the 10th Pick the Suns could draft Kendall Marshall?

Than with the 13th Draft Austin Rivers?

Okafor is 13.5 mil next year and and 14.5 million the year after

Ariza is 7.2 mil and 7.7 million the year after.

I am not sure how we could make a trade though?

But we should start brainstorming!

We're talking about it in the Draft, Offseason and Trade threads above.

Oh....

Checked out what people were talking about in those forums....

And no1 is talking about this.

Anyways let this be a centralized place for peoples comments and ideas regarding this matter!

No reason to go digging through pages in multiple threads....Doesnt make sense...

Do Not Want.

From what people are saying, the Hornets flat out want too damn much. First word was Ariza OR Okafor. Then it was Ariza AND Okafor. Latest word around the league is in order to get the #10 pick, a team has to take on Ariza AND Okafor WHILE ALSO sending New Orleans some talent.

Stay away. Far away.

It makes sense when the news is old and has been discussed to death. Stein already came out and said the Hornets are looking for much more than an Ariza or Okafor salary dump for #10.

Id be willing to suffer a few years...earn some top draft picks and return to competing when their contracts expire...

Kendall Marshall/Sebastian Telfair
Austin Rivers/ FA
Jared Dudley/Ariza
Channing Frye/Markieff Morris
Okafor/Robin Lopez

Marcin Gortat and Josh Childress who is on the books until 2015!

For Okafor and Ariza who come off the books in 2014?

Getting rid of Childress contract I think makes this worth it.

By 2015 wouldnt we be in top shape to compete? we would have basically dumped all our bad conracts and have hopefully a great roster of young players with high potential?

Got to be risky right? or is this absurd? lol

The topic is still a current affair.

This topic will become old news after NO uses their draft pick because they didnt trade it.

I'd like to have that pick. I wouldn't want Marshall and Rivers, because neither player is all that valuable without the ball in their hands. Marshall and Ross would be nice though ;).

good luck to them. The Suns had to trade two picks to get out of the final year of Kurt Thomas' contract.

What are the limits and restrictions with the amnesty clause? Basically what I want to know is can we get something by trading for a horrible contract and then amnesty it.

Think about it, though -

you take Okafor and Ariza (and the 10th) and they take Childress/Hak. That softens the blow.

Okafor allows us to deal one of Lopez or Gortat. As we've all said many times, good big men are always at a premium - we might do very well sending Gortat out

or send the 10 or 13 on to Boston for their two late ones -

take Royce White and BPA, adds playmaking, rebounding, smarts.

Okafor is a huge expiring after this year, and could be valuable to someone trying to clear the decks.

Okafor
Ariza
Morris
Nash
?????

Telfair
Redd??
Duds
Rolo
Frye ... rather see Frye at centre but ....

the making os two decent squads, with draft picks not figured in

I dont see how that softens the blow in any way.

Also, reports are that they also want talent in return, not just a pure salary dump.

So i was thinking....... to help insure that the Suns get Rivers, we have to get that #10 pick. Yes, i was all against the whole idea of a PHX/NOH trade, but my man-crush on Rivers has made me change that. Reports are that the Hornets really like Rivers, he has a great relationship with the coach that exceeds 10 years, and they could be looking at drafting him....IF THEY KEEP THEIR PICK! Yes, that would be some bulls**t. There has also been talk that they would like to secure a big to pair with Davis.

So they want to dump some salary, yet want talent. Gortat/Frye for Okafor/#10.

We take on their biggest contract while they receive a great C on an awesome deal. They also get Frye, with adds to their depth and give them some more 3 point shooting (something they have been severely lacking).

Jack/Vasquez
Gordon/Henry
Ariza/Aminu
Davis/Frye/Smith
Gortat/Ayon

Draft Rivers with #10, then trade our #13 for Bostons #21 & #22. Draft Harkless and O'Quinn. That nets us a SG, a SF, and a PF/C.

S&T Nash to Miami for Chalmers/future 1st. Sign Terrence Williams.

Chalmers/Telfair
Rivers/Dudley/Childress
Harkless/Williams
Morris/O'Quinn/Warrick
Lopez/Okafor/O'Quinn

The player has to have been on the roster prior to the new CBA being signed. The amnesty also has to be used during the off-season. You can't amnesty someone mid-year. The only candidates for the amnesty provision for the Suns are Frye, Gortat, Childress, Dudley, and Warrick.

Man, you'd better be sure he's the real thing at that price. and wrap in him in bubblewrap and foam so he doesn't get hurt

re: softening the blow - they add up to around $14 mil, for at least one year.
