Leander out as commentator

Post#1 » by GrantHill » Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:04 pm

Steve Albert, the voice of Showtime boxing for 24 years, is returning to the NBA as the Suns' television play-by-play announcer for a five-year contract. Albert spent 19 seasons as a NBA team broadcaster for the New Jersey Nets (13), Golden State Warriors (five) and New Orleans Hornets (one).

Albert will replace Tom Leander, who had been the TV voice for the past nine seasons and has been a part of Suns' broadcasts for 20 years. Leander will stay on as a studio host for pregame, halftime and postgame shows.

He was actually pretty good next to "the man who put the J in jumpshot" but terrible next to Williams. Time for a new guy to show what he can do.

Williams really brings down the broadcasts. I wasn't overly fond of Leander but you could tell he worked hard and compared to most other local play by play guys he knew more about what was happening across the league. His best attribute though was not being Gary "All of the Sudden" Bender.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought Leander was terrible.

Leander was pretty nonsensical, but who knows if this guy will have nearly the same enthusiasm. That's what I want above all.

I like both. I would rather keep Leander and find a way to kick WIlliams to the curb. That guy is more obnoxious than Bill Walton

Seriously, I can't stand Walton and Scott Williams. Complete morons. They ramble on about the pointless crap. I'd rather listen to John Madden
