Why not Delfino?

Phoenix backcourt seems pretty slim now.
Delfino would be a cheap signing, who can provide outside shooting and pretty good perimeter D.
So far, he has been an underachiever in NBA. From what I saw in his euro career and with his NT, it seems more an issue of lack of motivation in his NBA teams. Having alongside him his buddy Luis Scola could make the Argentina NT's Delfino play for the Suns, not the NBA Delfino.
Besides, the risk would be too low for the Suns, even if Delfino's performance isn't boosted by Scola, he'd still be very serviceable in the Phoenix's roster, don't you think?

But seriously, I think we're set at the wings now. Dudley, Beasley, Brown, Johnson, Tucker, Dragic will probably even play some SG.

For SG spot, Dudley would be a defensive liability, Johnson, Tucker are clearly inferior that the worst Delfino you can imagine That's my point, pretty slim not because lack of quantity, but lack of quality.
Delfino could be a cheap option to improve, with the added plus that he is a player who was a lot of basketball IQ. If he finally finds his place in NBA, he will contribute to the team a lot more than an average role player (Johnson, Tucker etc.)

Stopped reading there.. WTF? Do you even watch basketball?

Have you ever seen a Suns game?
Dudley is a great SG/SF, he played more SG than any other Sun last season. He's a very capable defender, probably our best wing defender with Hill gone (but Dragic might take those honors). What the HELL are you talking about?

I think we're pretty set in our back court and wing spots.
Dragic/Telfair/Marshall
Brown/Dudley/Wes
Beasley/Dudley/Wes/Tucker
Scola/Morris/Frye/Beasley
Gortat/Frye
Would love Delfino on our team, but I don't think we have the minutes to give to Delfino.

We don't have the room for Carlos.
However, I still think Dudley will start. Not sure if Gentry tries the same guys as we ended with Goran and Scola taking the one and four spots, and I am still concerned Gentry starts Frye at the four when he is fully recovered.

Delfino has offers from Pacers, Rox, Cavs.... and Suns . As well as a couple hefty deals from Europe. He'll decide right after Olympics

Have you ever coached a team?
If you don't believe in me, as you should cause I'm posting anonymously, why don't you at least read some basketball material?
You could at least start here:
http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2012/8/3/3216889/phoenix-suns-shooting-guard-analysis-defenseQuoted from there:
"However, in the NBA, smarts and hard work aren't enough.""particularly if Dudley has to defend shooting guards."For a team trying to become a contender, Dudley D at SG is clearly not enough. He could play SF and a guy with better perimeter D would be needed in the roster.
Ideally a star level player would be the best, but in this case, I suggested Delfino as a cheap fix, with the plus that he has the talent to contribute more.

Delfino wants a multiple year deal so there's no chance we sign him. We know that Dudley isn't the best option at at two and that's why we looked for Gordon and Mayo. But right now, Dudley is our best option.

If not Delfino, a trade like Wesley Matthews for Channing Frye could do the trick? (plus the sweeteners needed, picks or something).
At least it works at trade checker. Have you thought about it?

Why would Portland do this trade? I think it would be a great deal for us but it doesn't make sense for the Trail Blazers.

Sweeteners? Draft picks? taking some player they don't want and giving them an extra player they'd use in exchange?

I'd give up the Lakers pick in this deal but Portland still woudn't do it. They have Aldridge, Hickson, Leonard, Jeffries and Freeman. They don't need Frye and remember, they let him go before we could get him. I also can't imagine a third team that would get Frye and send some value to Portland.

Delfino is a scrub. He is not any more athletic than Dudley. Dudley and Brown are both better players. . Delfino has no readily definable strength that would make me want him on the Suns - even at the vet min.
As for your reliance on that blog, don't put much stock in this. There are critical flaws in the objective part of his analysis and his subjective comments are shallow and conclusory.
Finally as to your proposed trade with Portland, my only comment is did you even think about this from either team's point of view as opposed to your own? If you had you would not have made such a suggestion.

Delfino is clearly better than Shannon Brown, specially regarding Basketball IQ, Brown would play horribly in international Basketball or Europe because of that. Euro style players with high BB IQ tend to play his best when in teams with aspirations, and tend to play worse in crappy teams where no real sense of team is present, that's what have happened Delfino in NBA so far.

Yeah Delfino is by far better than Brown. He's a good defender and three point shooter with a high-basketball iq, like dartherus said. The problems has always been the injuries.

He does tend to chuck. You'd hate him when he is not hitting his shots.

In all seriousness, we need to go after James Harden, and if that fails, we need to go hard at lamarcus aldrige.
