Mike Brown on Nash running pick and roll

Post#1 » by mambasager » Fri Nov 2, 2012 1:08 pm

http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/la-sp-lakers-fyi-20121102,0,4440433.story

Brown has been consistent in saying Nash has the green light to run whatever offense he wants to run, adding that Nash didn't want to play pick-and-roll because it wears him out.

"It's not that it wears me out," Nash said. "Right now I want to try to get the offense going, get the guys comfortable, get everyone's confidence up. We'll find a happy medium at some time down the road."

Said Brown: "We can say, 'Steve, go play pick-and-roll.'….He did it in Phoenix for a long time. They won a lot of games. It was fun to watch. Where were they in May?"

Where was he in May? Oh losing in the Finals multiple times with the best player in the world on his team. Don't make me laugh.

These discussions should be held someplace else please. After all this is the Phoenix Suns board.

That statement is so terribly convenient, I can't believe a head coach would even utter those words. The offense was not the issue the vast majority of the time. I won't even get into how weak the Eastern Conference was in 2007 or the number of games Phoenix took from San Antonio in that post season versus Cleveland.

How dare you criticize our team like that Brownie. Where is your championship since coaching Lebron from 03 to 10 and last few years with the Lakers? It's one thing not to win a championship but another thing to only make one final appearance in last 9 years with Lebron/Kobe.

Bigfoot is right. It was/is a troll thread. It would be fine if the troll didn't follow that lame Brown comment with, "How funny.". I'm not sure why it's the Suns fault that Brown can't coach. :D

It won't matter anyway, if Brown can't get these guys winning a lot of games very soon, he will be fired. I have heard many of my neighbors thinking Brown will be fired before Dec if they have a terrible win/loss record.

I am really enjoying each Laker loss. I figure between Suns wins and Laker losses, I will be happy for about sixty games this season, which is more than I could ask for.

Mike Brown is an idiot. Its funny the irony is completely lost on him criticizing the suns for not winning a title and more specifically their offense. Which was amongst the best offense you'll see. He is a coach that has failed multiple times in the playoffs, been continually out coached in the play offs and has no clue on the offensive end.

Its kinda mind boggling he'd even make that statement, how oblivious is he?

Yeah, he should compare how the Suns did offensively in '07 against Spurs to the team he coached against in the Finals.

On a side note it is pretty amazing how poorly coached so many of the contending teams are right now.

The highlight of that article was Kobe calling the Lakers fanbase stupid. As much as I like former Suns players to be successful, the players on that team make it really difficult.

Oh, and that wasn't a troll. Laker fans are rightfully laughing at Brown for that statement on their forums.

Also dont forget that we have the Lakers first and second round pick next year so every Laker loss is doubly awesome for Suns fans!

Nash should ask Brown where he'll be this December.

Maybe at midseason, the Lakers can also pick up Amare from the Knicks and Marion from the Mavericks. Imagine the re-invented SSOL with Nash, Kobe, Marion, Stoudemire and Howard! Too bad they're all older, slower and/or broken down.

Yeah RealGM is mentioning this too, makes sense considering Nash is the PG but do they have enough shooters for his system to work?

They need 2 teams - a Kobe/ Dwight led inside-outside team and then a Nash/ Gasol P'n'r offensive team. One team on the floor at all times.
