Tyreke Evans

Post#1 » by mikefly3113 » Thu Nov 8, 2012 8:16 am

Early into this season I think its pretty obvious we need a 2 guard. Don't get me wrong I love Dudley but hes just not a starter, he should be coming off the bench bringing his energy. Had high hopes for Wes but for whatever reason he doesn't see the light of day.

Anyways I always thought the perfect back court pairing to Dragic would be a combo guard like Harden (unfortunately that ship has sailed). Tyreke may not be the shooter that Harden is but is still a dynamic player that can score or run the point when Dragic turns on that killer instinct. He obviously hates his situation with the Kings and they're probably getting sick of him as well. We need to start pursuing this NOW, and not let another Eric Gordon situation happen like last offseason.

Tyreke is a productive player for the Kings. Name some players on our team that they would take in return for him?

They already have the PG spot filled with Thomas/Brooks/Jimmer
They are stocked well with bigs Cousins/Thompson/Robinson/Hayes.
And all their big money contracts (on 3 year deals) are all SG/SF's. Thornton/Garcia/Salmons.

Only way we get 'Reke is in a Eric Gordon situation, and thats luring him in the offseason and hoping the Kings dont match. Only reason they would even entertain the idea of matching is to trade him to another team for assets, so that means the Suns might have to overpay for his services, which im really not to keen on doing.

I would rather have us hold our ground, continue playing the way we are, and drafting Shabazz with a top 5 pick.

Shabazz>>>>>>>>Evans @ SG.

totally agree that they won't take anything from us but that draft pick, but I think they would do that trade if we offered it and that's a risk I'm willing to take. Shabazz may be the next great sg but I already know the kind of player I would be getting in Tyreke and I honestly think he could strive here. Also a player like Shabazz isn't getting out of the top 3 this year and the Suns haven't had a TOP 5 pick in the draft since 1987. Trust me I would love nothing more to have Shabazz on this team next year and be the franchise player but your asking me to trust Stern/ping pong balls and quite frankly I just don't think it will happen.

There will be a lot of demand for the few scarce SG left next season. Tyreke is a high potential/high risk guy, given his lack of conistency in the last season (and apparently in the beginning of this one, too). We have enough of players with that profile in our team already.

Here is an interesting article on our options: http://valleyofthesuns.com/2012/11/03/w ... more-35670

I honestly don't like any of them, so I'm willing to depend on the draft as well, using all leverage you can to move up in the lottery.

he would be a great 6th man, maybe we draft Shabazz and sign Evans as a sixth man?

It is an interesting article, but the thing that i see is that they list both Smith and Millsap as ideas, but we already have plenty of guys that can start at PF. Scola is on the hook for the next 2 years, as is both Morris and Beasley. I dont see us giving up on Beasley or Morris that soon, maybe Scola, but i also kind of doubt that.

What we need is a SG/SF. Or maybe even a good PG that would allow us to run Dragic at SG. I do like the idea of pairing Dragic up with Jennings or Bledsoe.

What about mid-season trade Scola and Johnsons expiring to Utah, allowing them to now start Favors and bring Scola off the bench.

Then in the offseason, sign Jennings.

I wouldn't sign Tyreke Evans. Evans needs the ball in every possesion and we have Dragic to do so.

Sign Shabazz Muhammad is the perfect scenario even if we have to make a trade in the draft to get him.

Until he can find his stroke, we should avoid him....we need someone who has a high percentage jumper and more of a pure 2...
Pazienza....pazienza...pazienza....and before you know it, we're celebrating in "Suns City" baby....

I like Jennings and I like Millsap, just not sure if the trades are viable with what we have to offer.
And haven't seen Dragic playing as SG, and have some doubts. Altough he attacks the rim and can shoot, in my mind he is still more a passing guard than a shooting guard.

Can't trade Scola this year. Morris and Wes I would happily do.

Favors/ Morris
Jefferson/ Kanter

Good for years to come.

I don't want to pay big dollars to Milsap this coming offseason.

Do they even want Derrick Favors in Utah? Maybe we can acquire him somehow (somehow). I don't know if we have the pieces but Derrick Favors is on his rookie deal still so we maybe can take a bad contract back with us.

Then we make a move for Tyreke in the offseason or draft a SG. I don't know how the pieces move in such a trade but ideally we end up with:

Dragic
Evans
Beasley
Scola/Favors
Gortat

Favors was the main piece they got for Deron Williams so I see absolutely no chance for us to aquire him. They will deal Jefferson or Milsap around the deadline and will give Favors his minutes.

Come December (trade deadline) I think the judge and jury will have Morris' future figured.
I would be surprised if we are content with his development.

I thought we could not trade Scola for a yr... and besides... the guy is a great value $wise and could play a significant roll as a back up, getting 15+ mins per game. Face it... at this clip, Morris is playing his way to a Euro league career. And BTW, Milsap is worth a top ten pick. You are not going to steal him.

I wouldnt touch Evans with a 10 foot pole. Guy dominates the ball, is inefficient, does not give a rip about anyone else's production on the team. That Kings team is one of the most toxic in terms of chemistry that you could ever imagine and he is a big big part of the problem.

Guy is destined to spend his career stat padding on awful teams.

How about takin a shot at Jennings? We can switch dragic at the 2, high risk high reward. Definitely a fun team to watch but dont know if it would convert to many more wins.
