With all of these trade talk and major change talk I got to thinking. What exactly does Blanks do? I know his title but isn't Babby in charge?

Can someone explain what exactly he does if anything? Thanks

I have no idea.
He's just part of the three headed hydra that consists of Sarver, Babby, and Blanks.

Seth Pollack says that he hasn't talked to anybody in or around the organization who has anything remotely good to say about him, and that there are some scary stories regarding his ability to evaluate "talent".

So...yeah.

I hope that rumor is true about either Blabby or Gentry leaving. Lets hope Sarver tells Blabby to leave.

From the hints Seth has been dropping, one out of these three will not be here next year:

Babby, Blanks, Gentry

Blanks is Babby's "Basketball Genius", remember....so my gut says that they're going to kick Gentry out in a "CYA" sort of move.

I personally think the opposite. Gentry has done all he can with the roster and Sarver just publicly gave him full support despite the streak. Have Blabby's really earned a contract extension? They're gone come summer

I hope Sarver just cleans house. That would be way better.

I think the "public support" for a coach is a death knell, personally. Kinda seems to be the rule, no matter what sport it is.

Hell...this team has a great history of saying one thing and doing the exact opposite.

There was "public support" for Marbury, Marion, Nash, Hill, Porter, and Lopez very shortly before they were all shipped out...

I feel that Gentry may be getting set up as the fall guy, but if Sarver looks at the moves made during the Babby/Blanks regime I don't see how they come through untouched. My guess is Gentry is gone sometime during the season and Blanks will be gone either during or after the season. I could see Babby staying unless he feels undermined by Blanks getting the boot. I also think Lindsey Hunter will have an increased role in the FO next year.

The reason I don't think Gentry gets fired midseason is because Sarver won't pay two coach's salaries for a crap team.

He wouldn't have to. Just promote one of the assistants to interim. If things keep going as they have the past 2 weeks Gentry won't make it to the AS break. It's easier to fire the coach than it is to fix the roster. I'd be happy if Gentry lasted though(even re-signed if the FO gets sorted).

What a surprise. I am sure 90% realized how incredibly stupid Blanks is the first time he opened his mouth.

I'm actually okay with Blanks performance as Suns GM, given with what he's had to work with. He's only been here for 2 years, and he was handed a team with aging stars, bad contracts, and no young talent to speak of. He got something for Nash, he got rid of Lopez and Warrick (and received a late 1st in the process). He signed Dragic. He signed Tucker.

Beasley, and possibly Marshall have been the only busts. I'd include Brown, but the SG market is thin, and his contract is only partially guaranteed in the second year.

Can't blame Blabby much either. The contracts are pretty good.

But I don't have much faith as long as Sarver is still owner.

Sarver pushed for Dragic, Blanks wanted Felton. - Though it looks like Blanks could have been right on that one.

Seems to me Babby was responsible for the Nash trade.

Babby is responsible for contracts.

Blanks is responsible for drafting Marshall, Morris, Beasley and others..

The next time Blanks says something intelligent in the media might be the first time. He is a disgrace, a clown.

We could have gotten Mayo! And they told him that Jared Dudley would be ahead of him. WTF?? That's a mayor ****.

Blanks is simply horrible. Wasted one lottery pick, signed Michael Beasley and Shannon Brown. Don't you all forget the press conference of Michael Beasley and what Blanks said? I still like Babby, I think a former agent of the bigger names in the business can be useful as we have seen with Goran Dragic in the offseason.

It's still hilarious to me that people call a player with 34 minutes of actual NBA playing time a bust. Dude hasn't even been given a chance to earn the "bust" tag that so many like to throw on him.

He also wanted a 10+M/year contract. He's playing well in Dallas, but I doubt he maintains it for the entire year... I don't think he's a double digit per year contract player.

He did not want 10M$+ a year if he did why did he take a 1 year 5M$ contract or so? He didn't sign here because our FO wasn't willing to promise him the starting position.

And Mayo is playing better than James Harden right now, certainly that is worth a double-digit contract if not even max.
