Interim Head Coach

Lindsey Hunter will be named the interim head coach for the Suns. What are your thoughts?

Starting to win would suck....

At this point I hope we lose and I hope the Lakers lose.

Im not interested in watching the team as it stands atm. I hope we make some trades and play the young guys so I can watch the development of the team not the shell of a team we are.

Kind of interesting as he has only been with the Suns organization for 5 months and prier to that spent a few years as a player development coach for the Bulls. I dont know why exactly they gave him the go-a-head over Turner, who has way way more coaching experience. I guess its because our FO is being smart about this season and would rather have Hunter "Develop" our young players during the game and tank the rest of the season instead of winning games and getting yet another crap draft pick. If thats what the are planning, then thank god, as it seems like the smartest thing they have done in a while. I just dont know if Hunters tank job would be any different than us continuing to tank under Gentry.

I've always been steadfast against tanking, but right now it seems like there is no other option than to "not purposely lose games) but to develop the young players on the court in the process of losing games.

What the hells wrong with you people? Tanking never leads to good things. I'm all for playing the young players more, and if that means sacrificing some potential wins then so be it. With that said, I want the Suns to win as many games as they can.

Just hopefully teams like the Kings, Hornets, Bobcats, Raptors, etc. win more ;)

This. Gentry was fired 2 years to late. Players like him a lot - so he can be a good friend, a 2nd coach or assistant coach. 1st coach must be like SAF in Man Utd, like Pops in SAS, like Phil, etc. Team must feel fear. Feel hard hand. Obey. Friendship? Not on line coach - players. OK, when you have MJ23, Nash, Kobe in the team - this star can be your friend. MUST be your friend. But whole team must OBEY and feel fear.

Hunter is not the answer. Need a strong leader of men as a coach. That's why gentry had to go. He was not a leader of men.

Btw orange guy. I really don't like you. I think it cause you represent this PG brand of basketball. But I'm sure you are aware many people dont like you. Carry on.

Good post. I think you need to balance fear and respect. Yes they have to fear/respect that if they **** up they have pay for it. But They have respect that you as the leader will have their back. You have to get in their heads as a leader. It's hard, I know personally. I'm a platoon sergeant of 45 men. My soldiers know they can come talk to me anytime but they never confuse me as their buddy. They also know if they **** up, its not gonna be fun. There is that that respect. There is never a misunderstanding that I am the boss.

That's what young players need. A strong leader. Not one that is their buddy.

Craig Grialou ‏@Craig620

#Suns make it official, naming player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter interim head coach

Best choice. Let's see what will happen.

I know someone else mentioned it, but it is quite ironic that our main issue was player development and we make the guy, who's job it was to develop the players head coach?

I agree. That was why I thought we should have gone with a new coach from the start of the season. We drastically changed the roster, might as well play the youth and develop a new system that fits those players. It may have failed as much, but at least we try.

This has to be a pretty slap in the face for someone like Majerle. He's been here forever and players wanted him as the coach. Wouldn't be surprised if we see some changes regarding assistant coaches.

I like how Lindsey was still playing 2 years ago.

Well done, Sarver! You hired a pro.

Not.
