Avoids going to jail because he was too tall to fit in the patrol car. Pulled over at 1:30 am, going 27 over the speed limit... on a suspended license, with no tags or plates on the car...

... and had a loaded gun for good measure.

Court date on Feb 11th.

For all the talk about how this franchise loves "character" so much, our players do some stupid stuff. You got J-Rich speeding with his kid in the backseat, you got Barkley doing god knows what...

This is why I never thought we would go for this kid. However, with no drugs in the car, I feel a little better. With all the money these arses make, why can't one of them hire a driver?

A friend of mine died after being hit by a speeding driver. The wasn't drunk or high...just speeding criminally.

This isn't a small thing. Dude needs to grow up.

And let's not forget, his license was suspended. That means he was not supposed to be driving in the first place. He was not only driving when he wasn't supposed to, but way over the limit. Not good.

LOL. I was expecting a lot worse.

No drugs, totally legal to own a gun, and not drunk.

Speeding? Not a huge deal.

Had he not been driving on a suspended license, this wouldn't even be news.

At least we dont have to wait to find out if he has matured or not. Why dont these rich idiots hire professional drivers? They would never have legal problems and could get hammered drunk and it wouldnt be an issue. The money saved in legal fees and public relations damages would probably be enough to cover the guys annual salary anyway so there is no excuse. :D

Agree on the driver comment.

But more importantly, we lack context in this story.

Beasley was stopped on suspicion of driving 71 mph in a 45 mph speed-limit zone on Scottsdale Road near Doubletree Ranch Road on Jan. 25, shortly after 1 a.m., according to a Scottsdale police report.

BTW, WTF does "suspicion" of driving 71 mph mean? Doesn't sound to me like they clocked him.

In the Colangelo era he would have been immediately shipped off like Kidd and uncle Cliffy did when they were arrested.

In the Colangelo era we never would have thrown money away on a POS like him in the 1st place.

Cough...Dumas....cough.

I think too many forget many things that went on while The Colangelos owned the team.

Dumas was a 2nd round draft pick. Not some free agent turd who had been a trouble maker and a crap player.

We paid Dumas $1.3 million for fifteen games in 93-94 season. He wasn't the only guy with drug problems during the C era, or "trouble maker". And they threw tons of money at other losers, many of which were FAs.

That same year we paid Mustaf $1 million for thirty-two games and he went on to be a suspect in his wife's death. And just to put things in perspective, we paid Barkley and KJ $3.25 million and $2.3 million respectfully that year.
