Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
I'd want more than Bass/Bradley. Gortat's a pretty darn good player and we should be able to get more than that back.
I don't think there's a Gortat deal to be made now that Sullinger is out for the count.
However....we'll give you Telfair for a 2nd round pick!

With Rondo's knee in ruins the Celtics will not be trading Bradley. So given that Bradley and Sullinger are both off the table I cannot think of a realistic trade.

There, best I could come up with.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=bjhjbht + a future first coming to Phoenix
The Celtics have always flirted with trading Rondo, maybe now with his knee injury he is officially expendable. Makes the Celtics crazy deep across the board. Allows the Suns to build around an actual star with a ton of cap space going forward.
Also has the added bonus of making us the leading contender for the worst record in the league this year.
EDIT: Link isnt working. Gortat, Dudley, Dragic for Rondo, Lee, Sullinger and a 1st.

Yes plz and we sit him all next year and pair a healthy Rondo with Wiggins/Parker. Ohhh let the hate run thru you.

Why do we take on Lee's contract? We end up with Rondo, a big man with back problems, a bad contract and a first for our three best pieces.
Easy pass for me

Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
Rondo is not a star, nor can he lead a team anywhere.
I'd take Dragic over him without having to include Gortat and/or Dudley, picks, etc.
Lets get our own rebuild underway - I have no interest in helping the C's with theirs.

Agree 100%! With no Dragic and no Gortat for the rest of the season, we are bound to be drafting in the 2-4 range this year. Spend next year developing our 2013 draft picks, while letting Rondo rehab, then hope for a top 4 pick in 2014.

Those who still believe Rondo isn't a star player is an idiot. There's no other way around it. The guy is a triple double threat and the king of getting teams involved.
He's the best pass first PG in this league right now and it's not even close.

Our 3 best pieces are not exactly great pieces. If the Celtics had an expiring contract to balance out the salaries instead of Lee I would have thrown that in instead. Lee's contract isnt good but it also isnt terrible. And I'd gladly take a 4 mil bad deal and lose our 3 "best" but hardly great pieces in exchange for a truly great player, which, in my opinion, Rondo is.
But I dont think this trade could happen. It makes a lot of sense for both teams in the present, but Rondo is probably worth too much to the Celtics in the long term. If Garnett and Pierce retire or decline dramatically in the next year or 2 that trade would leave the Celts in a cap mess with a really bad team.

Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
Rondo Per36
13.2ppg / 5.4rpg / 10.6apg / 1.8spg
51.6% TS% / 24.0% 3pt% / 64.5% FT%
102 ORtg / 102 DRtg
Dragic Per36
15.6ppg / 3.1rpg / 7.1apg / 1.6spg
53.9% TS% / 31.4% 3pt% / 74.3% FT%
109 ORtg / 109 DRtg
And Rondo is a star? People - seriously - his APG numbers drop without Pierce/KG. Do you honestly think Dragic wouldn't have 2-3 more APG were he passing to Pierce and Garnett as opposed to Dudley and Scola?
All of the other other numbers are, at best, a wash. Rondo is the worst offensive PG in the league, easily.
And you're telling me he's a star. And you're telling me that not only is he worth Dragic, but he's worth Gortat too? And Dudley? And picks?
He's not. If you like the idea of trading for him, great. But don't pretend we need to gut our team of it's only remaining talent to bring in a guy that will look TERRIBLE trying to pull assists out of this squad. His value would evaporate.
You think our team has issues scoring now? Wait until opposing teams have absolutely no concern about our PGs ability to score. That will suck. They'll pack the paint and we'll shoot our ways out of games. And you'll be wondering why Rondo isn't averaging 10+ APG while passing to Brown/Morris/Beasley.
Finally, Rondo is a whiney little punk and I want him no where near our locker room.

Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
Rondo gets a lot of assists because he is an extremely gifted passer and can see lanes others cant. Dragic does not. He is hardly a top notch distributor. Pierce is an ISO player and Garnett has missed long stretches of PT, get Rondo keeps cranking out league leading assist totals. Rondo is also worlds better defensively and is probably the best rebounding PG in the league.
Rondo is a perennial all-star. We would have a big chuck of cap space and a high pick to pair him with. I would absolutely give up our 3 mediocre role players to have a legit star player to build around.

Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
And while I'm not arguing that Rondo is a great player, I am saying you don't build a team around him. He's a great player to have when he's your 4th/5th option on offense, not when you expect him to be your first.
Finally, while our team sucks this year, the three guys you keep calling mediocre are anything but. Not only are they 10 times the teammate Rondo is, but you're severely underrating them for the sake of making an argument
Paul, Rose, Holiday, Curry, Lillard, Irving and Parker are all better.
Rubio, Conley, Williams, Walker, Nash and Dragic are slightly less valuable.

I disagree. I liked the Dragic signing but the more I see of him the more I feel he is a very mediocre player and a tier below the above mentioned players, except Rubio, who so far in his career has been pretty bad. Dragic is great in transition but really struggles to create shots for himself or his teammates in the half court, he is an average distributor and a surprisingly bad defender. I'd put Lawson, Vasquez ahead of Goran. I'd lump him in with the middle of the pack, with the Felton's, Lowry's and Lin's of the league.

Re: Celtics - Suns Trade Possibilities
Dragic will improve as the talent around him becomes more consistent. It goes hand in hand. Players do get better at his age... and just consider... he now has almost one yr of 'running a team' experience. .. and half that yr is with a lousy team
The Celts have nobody of interest for us. The few guys we would want are not available, and the guys they want from us could get better assets elsewhere.
Furthermore, no way we deal a newly signed free agent with the hype/love Dragic received. The Babbler and Blanks blew a bellyful of smoke up his a$$ to get him here. Gentry puffed some too. It sends the wrong message to all other Free Agents who are looking for a long term home. Dragic stays unless he squawks a 'trade me'.
I would imagine there are 29 teams who are sitting back and grinning at the barrel the Celts are over. Old Vets on their last legs, a smattering of hopeful youngsters, 3 or 4 mediocre and largely over paid players... and their one stud with a bum knee gone for a yr. They will get lowballed on any thing they do.
The fuse is lit beantowners.... its just a matter of time before she blows.
