As far as getting back to championship status? Let me know what you guys think

I think the Suns can do it they have the draft picks, and they have the cap room. If the Suns are going to go the Spurs & Thunder route as far as building a championship then they have to hit on these next 2 drafts. If the Suns hit on these next 2 drafts they are well on their way back. Then in 2015 we don't know how good the Lakers are going to be but basing off of this season and especially if Dwight Howard leaves L.A. the 2015 draft pick could be good. Yea I think the Suns do have a shot of going the Spurs & Thunder route.

What do you think?
Go Suns!!!

I think that is the rebuilding model. Whether it works or not depends on the players we get so this summer is big between FA and the draft.

The trick is drafting the right player to build around. San Antonio lucked out by having a consensus #1 draft pick in Duncan and I guess the Thunder got lucky by not being able to choose Oden?
Talent like that doesn't come easily so a little luck is involved I suppose. Drafting hasn't really been the Suns forte recently so we could end up drafting the next Oden or Sam Bowie lol.

Having a role model for a team management is a good start. If they manage to set up a good plan based on these fundamentals (and that's something we cannot foresee) there is a good chance it works out.

But yes, ultimately it depends on quite some luck on the draft.

The next 2 drafts will ultimately be key to our Really having multiple draft picks is never really a bad thing! Even in this upcoming draft!

As was mentioned, The more young high potential assets you have, The greater the liklihood of you being successful in rebuilding quickly and on the fly by utilizing those assets(rookies) developmentally, and then swinging for the fences accordingly when the opportunity presents itself in a trade for a franchise type of talent, etc.

And the beauty of having high potential rookies is also magnified by the fact that they are on small inexpensive contracts! Wich are greatly desired by salary strapped teams, etc.

So yes, As long as we really keep adding talent through the draft, and building through it, We really can get back to prominance quickly. :D

Ya I remember when SA tanked so friggin hard to get Duncan it was completely obvious. But there is no Duncan in this draft and the top 10 anyones guess as far as who is or isnt going to succeed. Alot of question marks but I think its about time for some good luck for our Suns! :D

We'll be fine as long as we act like one of the Top 5 winningest franchises in NBA history. If we continue to act like the bitchmade, worthless, tumultuous, dramatic, catastrophic ones that we have so many examples of, then that will be our new existence.

You mean the same way the Spurs were while tanking for Duncan? I know you hate losing BH but this is just a reality of the league sometimes you have to get worse to get better; the good news is our tank/reset season is almost over. Between FA and the draft this summer is going to be huge as far as giving us an idea of what our future may look.

Intersting fact, the Spurs had the third worst record the year before they were gifted Timmy, while Robinson only played six games. And the worst team The Griz, picked fourth. The second pick went toPhilly, who had two more wins than SA, and they picked Van Horn.

Now if we could just get Stern and Sarver best friends, we might get that number one pick.

I think we're going the Pacers route. Not entirely sucking, but building our team through free agency, and Mid-Lottery draft picks.

And lets be honest sucking for a season gives us the luxury to help evaluate and/or try out more players than normal. I know Goran gets most of the rarely given praise but when everything is said and done I think the real story from this year will be Tucker and Johnson. No disrespect to Goran - I think he is improving in consistancy (esp with a bad team) and leadership but he was already somewhat of a known commodity. If they continue to grow and learn Johnson could be a gem and although Tucker may be closer to his ceiling, he is tough as nails, has a motor that doesnt stop and is a striaght up defensive menace. My kinda guy! :D

Man, the Spurs are going on their 14th season of having 50+wins. That's incredible.
Oh, and we talk about the Thunder, but look at the other teams that have taken similar routes but took a bad pick. I'd even say the Wolves are terrible still, and they been rebuilding since KG left in like 06-07!

The Spurs weren't an organizational disaster when they tanked for Duncan. I could be wrong. We're a joke of a franchise with joke management. That's what I'm talking about.

Spurs and OKC had and still have TERRIFIC management (especially SA, imo they are tops in the league by far)...our team is run by Sarver and his baboons...you do the math. This is one of the most wishful posts I have ever seen. It's good to dream

Even our best scout by far (and maybe even our only competent scout), David Griffin, who was also responsible for drafting Amare and Matrix, ran away to Cleveland. If we still had him then I would say we could definitely have a chance at a return to glory (if Sarver would actually give his word power). But unfortunately all of our main internal pieces have been fleeing Phoenix for other owners and teams that they know actually want to win championships so I say the future is pretty bleak. Even if we got some extreme luck and landed the number one pick somehow, I will still be in fear of $arver drafting Zeller. That is how little hope I have in this FO. They have done NOTHING to show me that they are even competent at their jobs

But keep the hope alive!!!! There is always hope!! This is our team so we have to believe....just don't pay $arver so that he can finally sell the team then we can have legitimate hope

Return to Phoenix Suns
