Beasley (and Hunter) display more maturity

http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2013/ ... municationThats not even Beasley's full quote, he goes into more detail about the coach not understanding what he sees on the court. As usual nothing is Beasley's fault, at the start of the year he had a boo boo on his pinky, but it turns out his REAL problem has been "listening" too much.
And Hunter's response... well played, good job stooping to the level of a doped up moron.
I pray they're both gone next year. I cant stomach even looking at Beasley anymore and all Hunter is good for is securing lotto balls.

well, the coach should be able to say something like that, without real gm analysts going crazy

If the Suns are going with Hunter as the head coach for the foreseeable future, they need to gut the team and build it to his liking. If he doesn't like Beasley, they need to get rid of him. Beasley is a head case. He's up there with guys like Artest (I refuse to call him by his make believe name) and Rodman. The difference? They both could play the game of basketball at a very high level. Beasley appears to only play basketball while high. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this offseason. I expect a lot of changes. Time will tell if they're good or bad, but it won't be a boring offseason, that's for sure.

http://arizonasports.com/64/1625396/His ... s-position Only one team in Phoenix Suns history has been worse than the 2012-13 version.
The first one.
The 1968-69 expansion Suns won just 16 games for head coach Johnny "Red" Kerr. They finished last in the Western Division.
The next year, Phoenix won 39 games and lost in the playoffs. They failed to reach the postseason each of the next five seasons, before going on that miracle run that saw them lose to the Boston Celtics in the 1976 NBA Finals.
So, what does this all mean for the team now? Absolutely nothing.
The truth is, we don't have the faintest idea what will become of the Phoenix Suns.
Could their stockpile of draft picks and players on reasonable contracts lead to better days in the near future? Perhaps.
However, could a seemingly incompetent management group dig the team's hole even deeper? Absolutely.
At this point in the season, with the Suns so far removed from the playoff conversation even Jim Mora is aghast at the suggestion, all there is to look forward to is an uncertain future that is off to a pretty rocky start.
Because it's one thing for the mercurial Michael Beasley to call the franchise into question, but a completely different issue when a respected veteran like Luis Scola does so.
"We just don't know how to play well," he continued. "We don't know how to play basketball and that's why we lose. Until we learn how to play 48 minutes of basketball, we're not going to win games. I'm surprised we won (23) games playing this way. Many of the games we won, we did the same thing. We just overcame it somehow. I'm also surprised we didn't fix it. We saw the problem pretty much the first week and we couldn't fix it. It's very frustrating. It's a bad year."
The team's clutch nine-game losing streak has helped the draft position immensely, and no matter how competitive you'd like to see the team be this year we all know the best thing for them to do is lose, and lose a lot.
But that does not mean one should be happy with the dumpster fire that the team has been of late.
Now, it's not exactly fair to pin the bulk of the blame on interim head coach Lindsey Hunter. He is working with a roster he did not assemble and is trying to instill new schemes and ideas on the fly. Without the benefit of a training camp, it's tough to a first-time coach having great success.
Besides, it's not like the team was doing any better under Alvin Gentry. Fewer blowouts, sure, but who cares? A one-point loss counts the same in the standings as a 21-point loss.
Hunter has given little indication he's part of the solution, but he's not the problem, either.
The real issue is an apparent lack of direction on the court, as Hunter has had to bench players -- players who figure to be part of the team's future, mind you -- at times due to lack of effort.
The team can talk about a "culture change" all it wants, but that's really just words. Nothing will change until the talent on the roster is good enough, and it's clear the one the Suns assembled is not.
Granted, it will look a bit different next season.
Wesley Johnson and Jermaine O'Neal are free agents, while Jared Dudley and Marcin Gortat may find their way to the trading block. Shannon Brown is not likely to return, and Luis Scola will be eligible to be dealt on July 1.
The only players who seem to be guaranteed a spot on the 2013-14 roster are Goran Dragic because he's good, the Morris twins because it doesn't hurt to have them around, P.J. Tucker because he's useful, Kendall Marshall because he's young and Michael Beasley because no one will trade for him.
Is that the type of core a team can build around? To borrow a metaphor from the Suns' front office, is it a seed that, with a bit of water and nurturing, will eventually grow into a beautiful plant?
It's possible, but how long do you have to wait?
"We dont know how to play basketball" Thats all I need to know.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury.....I close my case! Blanks and hunter are human toxic waste!

Both knows either will be here for long either way...they are basically both playing for their next contract!
We may have to ride out the Beaz's contract but giving him backup minutes may actually encourage him to act like he cares to be on the court more so its a win win for us either way.
Turner wont be here at the end of next year...honestly i'll be shocked if he is givin the reigns back for training camp.

Scola's quote
"We just don't know how to play well," he continued. "We don't know how to play basketball and that's why we lose. Until we learn how to play 48 minutes of basketball, we're not going to win games. I'm surprised we won (23) games playing this way. Many of the games we won, we did the same thing. We just overcame it somehow. I'm also surprised we didn't fix it. We saw the problem pretty much the first week and we couldn't fix it. It's very frustrating. It's a bad year."
Hmmm ... so Scola is basically saying the problem existed under Gentry and the coach couldn't fix it. No wonder he got fired.
Onto Beasley. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to just use the stretch provision on him. He is owed about $7M over the next two years. With the stretch provision it would be payed out over 5 years (number of years on contract times 2 plus 1 year). So it would cost the Suns $1.4M for five years but free up about $4.6M in cap space this summer. Some other team would offer him a small contract and the Suns would recoup some of the $1.4M annual payout and cap space.

Scola is also saying that Hunter hasn't fixed anything either.
We need a proper coach

Agreed that Scola is saying Hunter hasn't fixed the problem. In fact Scola is saying "we" haven't fixed the problem implying the players are responsible too.
So then do you agree with the post that "Blanks and Hunter are toxic human waste"? If so does that imply Gentry, Dragic, Scola, Dudley, Tucker, O'Neal, and the other Suns players are equivalently poisonous fecal matter because they didn't fix the problem?
Did Golden State need a proper coach last year?? Did anybody read or post what the GSW coach said about Hunter recently. Here's what Mark Jackson (another coach with zero coaching experience) said
“I got a lot of respect for Lindsey,” Jackson said before the game. “I think they’ve taken his identity and put it on the floor. At the end of the day, it’s moments like this that build a foundation. People look at us and say we’re a playoff team.
“If they stay true to the process, it’s going to play itself out. Even though we won 23 games last year – with our approach, with our mentality, with our habits – if you stay true to it, you’ll be rewarded.”

You can't fix Beasley. And young players (e.g. the Morris twins, Marshall etc) need someone to learn from. Maybe Scola & Dudley are the only positive role models?
I'm not advocating Hunter, but Gentry seemed to be a good coach and figued things out with the Conference Finals run. Since then it's been setback after setback when it comes to putting talented basketball players on the court.
