Doug Collins for Suns head coach?

If this is true and if Collins leaves the 76ers' organization, would anyone like to see him as head coach of the Phoenix Suns? I feel we need a veteran coach that can deal with the upcoming influx of young players. Collins did extremely well in Philly and has been great throughout his career. Obviously, this report about his behind-the-scenes issues in Philly is concerning, but I think this kind of stuff happens more often than not and Philly is just looking to deflect the blame of the Bynum disaster.

On a sidenote, didn't Philly interview Thunder Dan a few years ago before ultimately deciding on Collins? I wonder if Dan hadn't signed on with GCU if he'd have gotten another look in Philly. Hey, maybe the Suns and Sixers can swap coaches. I hear Lindsey is a yes-man and won't argue with management.

I had heard this rumour from a friend before. Not sure where he got it from. I'd sign him anytime.

He has a 0.520 record, pushed down by this year.

Just a quick link on him:

If that holds true, he might not be a good fit for our team, at the moment. Maybe in a year or two.

I would loooove Doug Collins here as HC. Would be perfect but our FO won't so it cause Collins will want complete authority of the team.

He is a really good coach, of course I would love to have him for the next years.

I prefer Stan Van Gundy. Let's whoop this team into shape. Doug is too laid back for me.

I like Doug, but I think it is too late to get him. The best time would have been when we had Grant Hill and lacked a decent sub for Nash. Doug would have used Hill as our second point guard, which is what we should have done.

But if we are going for either Piston players or coaches, I still would like to find a way to get Bill Laimbeer for head coach, get Hornacek for assistant, along with Olajuwon.

He is good for molding young teams. Problem is when they start to win his ways cause a lot of tension (See Detroit, Chicago). Guess he is good to have for 2 years and then groom a replacement.

Oh yeah. Laimbeer & Horny. Great duo. But i'd like'em both as lead assistants. Collins @head with this duo - will be GREAT.

I'm not too sure about Collins. He grates on players quickly, and his offensive system is one of the worst in the league. Very slow, lots of iso, lots of midrange 2...basically The Beasley.

I love Collins as a coach for a veteran team. He's useless as a coach on a rebulding team that tries to develop talent.

No way Laimbeer leaves the Shock for an assistant role. Besides being the head coach he also has a big FO role. I think he has two WNBA chips as head coach, he is tough as nails, and he has two chips in the NBA as a player. He knows what it takes to win at a high level in basketball, either as a player or coach. If toughness is the route we are going, I would try for all three Laimbeer as head coach, Hornacek, and Olajuwon. If we were going with some PHX ties, I would try either Paul Westhead or Cory Gaines for head, with the two assistants I mentioned.

Collins has always been a quick fix. Players play hard in their first year with him and burn out in their second. Not sure if he's what we need, especially when we're TANKING FOR WIGGINS!!!!!!!

Collins is worthless. That guy follows the same pattern he always has.

No thanks.
