So good ole Blanks must have some friends in ESPN. They are trying to blame everyone else but blanks.

Story:
A good number of executives felt Lance Blanks got a raw deal when he was fired as the Phoenix Suns' GM earlier this week. Blanks, who comes out of the Spurs' highly regarded front office tree, is respected around the league and several execs thought he became the Suns' scapegoat. Blanks was indeed pushed out front on a few moves that weren't his doing, sources said. While blamed on Blanks, sources say the heavily panned signing of Michael Beasley to a three-year, $18 million deal was president Lon Babby's call. Blanks, having worked with the volatile Delonte West in Cleveland, warned Babby that paying Beasley that much guaranteed money would take away his incentive to work hard and change. But Babby didn't listen and got a disappointing 10 points per game on 40 percent shooting out of Beasley. Blanks also had little to do with the firing of Alvin Gentry, sources said. Milwaukee assistant GM Jeff Weltman, a longtime league executive who has worked for Detroit, Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers, is widely regarded as the frontrunner to replace Blanks in Phoenix. I really want to know where this is coming from. Everything I hear from the local sports radio ie 620 says completely opposite about everything Blanks did. To say Blanks had little to do with the Gentry firing is like saying John Wilkes Booth had little to do with the death of Lincoln. ESPN keeps getting worse and worse.

I really want to know is who around the league respects this guy?

Do you guys believe anything in this story?

I trust Coro and Gambo more than I trust ESPN. From what I've heard, it was all Blanks in regards to signing Beasley and Brown as well as firing Gentry and instead of going with the right choice of either Turner or Majerle, instead chose his good pal Hunter. Furthermore, and more surprising, it was all Sarver when it came to signing Dragic and Scola. Supposedly, Blanks and Babby both warned against re-signing Dragic and instead wanted Raymond Felton. Also, they thought Scola was washed up and a waste of money. There's your decision makers hard at work. The only thing I'll give Blanks credit for is signing P.J. Tucker, but I think it was just random luck that he got that one right.

They should've put All Star incentives in Beasley's contract like they did on Dragic's and then played him at the 4. IMO

Don't believe ESPN. Alvin Gentry wanted Michael Beasley on his team. After Beasley lit us up in one OT game a couple of seasons ago in vs Timberwolves, Gentry from that point on wanted him. Blanks and Gentry were the front runners with that deal, not Babby. Don't believe the media.

Sarver wanted nothing to do with Beasley.

Just got sent something about the GM change in Phoenix… LOL, Some serious spin doctoring going on there!

Without mentioning source, I will just say: person who got fired has nobody but self to blame. Made his bed & now he's got to sleep in it

Can you please prove this point with some details? Because I am completely lost right now. I can count his "good" moves on one hand, but please enlighten me in case I have no brain, it could be true :-?
