I heard on the radio this morning that their is a good chance Lebron will opt out and become a free agent next year. The Lakers are going to try and sell it to him as an oportunity to succeed Kobe. Cleveland will also be a player. I was looking at the Suns roster next year and with all of our young tallent on resonable salaries, we might be a desirable destination. What do you guys think?

What do i think? I think we are wasting our time in this thread, as Lebron will never come here. Sorry.

I wouldn't sell our opportunities short. We will have a lot of cap space and a bunch of good young talent next year. Lebron would be the man and we would have the flexibility to surround him with complementary teammates. Plus the weathers nice here (just not in summer)

Yeah if Miami wins another championship next season he probably won't leave. Only way he leaves is if Wade leaves.

If there is any possibility, then I think it would be in our best interest to at least position ourselves to give him an offer. Look at Houston - no one would have predicted a year ago they would get DH over LA.

I guess it all depends on how our young players play this year. If they excel then I think our team could look like a Lebron away from a contender. If we don't then we will be trying with all the other crap teams for a Wiggins.

You do realize he almost signed with Houston last season, right? I've known since the first 10 games of last season for the Lakers that he will be in Houston next season.

I did not know this. I knew that Houston wanted him last year, but I didn't think Dwight felt the same way. This year, though, Houston has positioned themselves to be the best destination for him.

I believe the Suns could position themselves this year to be good fit for Lebron if he opts-out this summer. It's worth a try.

Maybe I'm overrating the development of our young players, and looking at what they could be rather than what they currently are.

I suppose you guys are right. Our team will need to be lucky with the lotto balls for a few years - no quick fixes.

Somehow I doubt LeBron is going to look at a team that just went something like 22-60, that is covered in unproven rookies or sub par veterans and say "yep, thats the team for me."

It's not that out of the question. The Suns are a proud, historical franchise in a hot, sunny location (some people like that ****), lots of partying, close to Los Angeles if that's what you're into without actually wanting to play there under that scrutiny and under the idiocy of their fans. We'll have some nice pieces in place, especially if Len pans out and we get a nice piece in the draft next year, and we'll have a lot of money to spend.

It's not likely, but it's not out of the question. It's not like we're asking him to come to Sacramento or something.

And as someone who doesn't particularly like LeBron James because of his primadonna, flopping ways, I'd rather it didn't happen and that we found our own way.

My 2014 plan I've been pushing around here has alway been around going all in for Lebron and another star in 2014...

But the moves this season and possible extension of Bledsoe may mean just Lebron.

The suns definitely have to aim to try to get Lebron.

Offer the absolute biggest contract you can.
Offer a team that suits him... Having Bledsoe, Dragic helps.
Need to have good PF and Center though...

Hence why I think Len needs to be developed ASAP.


All the FO can do is have cap space and the most suitable team possible.. And an opportunity to contend.

If Suns can land a top notch rookie that Lebron thinks would be the next big thing... I see it as an incentive for him to mentor and team up with.

If Lebron doesn't come.. Then the suns still have a young team with huge upside this way.

If you want the basketball team Phoenix Suns to turn into the girl's drama club Phoenix Clowns, then by all means - get LeClown to Phoenix

My guess is that he will sign with a team that would be a contender for many years and that could pay him a max contract. The question is could the Suns become that team by next summer. A lot of IFs, but IF Dragic, Bledsoe, and Goodwin could become one of the better backcourts in the league, and IF Len develops into what the Suns hope he can, and IF we get a nice 2014 rookie. Will there be a better team for Lebron to sign with? Lakers? - I think if you only look at the team, I think our team would be a better fit. Cleveland? - possibly? - but is there any bad blood from how the owner reacted when LJ left? We can offer Lebron an opportunity to bring the Suns' their first championship when Barkley, Nash, Stoudemire, Shaq all couldn't do it.

All I'm saying is, I'm not ruling it out as a possibility, and I personally wouldn't do any moves that sacrificed this opportunity - the reward is too great.

Yes, it's a long shot but, what do we have to lose? We are already trying to develop young talent and maintain cap flexibility.

I suppose I'm an optimist when it comes to the Suns - gives me hope.
