Post#1 » by bigfoot » Tue Jul 9, 2013 3:12 pm

Eurobasket 2013 starts in September. Expect Goran and Gortat to be playing for their respective countries. Two of our top guys will be play close to 20 games between July and September. Should be plenty tired for the beginning of the NBA season. Haven't heard anything about Len but expect he will not play since practice starts in July. Here's the friendlies schedule for Goran. Haven't found anything for Poland yet.

Slovenia's preparation games:

26 July: Slovenia - Poland (Domzale)
28 July: Slovenia - F.Y.R. of Macedonia (Litija)
2 August: Slovenia - Latvia (Celje)
3 August: Slovenia - Turkey (Celje)
4 August: Slovenia - Serbia (Celje)
10/11 August: Belgrade tournament (participating teams: Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine)
16 August: Slovenia - Bosnia and Herzegovina (Jesenice)
18 August: Slovenia - Russia (Ljubljana)
23 August: Slovenia - Montenegro (Koper)
24 August: Slovenia - Italy (Koper)
31 August: Slovenia - France (Ljubljana)

Do any of those top international 2014 draft prospects like Exum or Hezonja play in it?

If you mean Dante Exum.. he is Australian so he can't play in EURObasket. He played well with his team at u19 world championship, they were 4th.

His stats: 18.2 ppg 3.8 apg 3.6 rpg 44.6FG% 33,3% 3P% and poor 60.9 FT% 1.7 ST 2.3 TO

Mario Hezonja.. might play at Eurobasket or he might play with Croatian u18 European Championship team.

It's hard to say which young prospects will be there until teams name their official (12 man) squads for it.
Players to watch will be for sure Dario Sarić(Croatia) PF and from my polish team if they go Mateusz Ponitka SG/SF and Przemek Karnowski (Gonzaga Uni.) Center others later..

As an international draft prospect 2014 it might me possible (it's a long shot though...) that Mouhammadou Jaiteh plays for France. French NT coach mentionned his name since we have defections from everybody who plays Center. Noah & Seraphin don't want to come, neither Turiaf or Mahinmi...Gobert will undergo a toe surgery. Others are injured, so it could be Jaiteh to complete french roster. There's only 1 C actually in the group, and it's Ajinça. I'd have preferred Petro but it seems like Parker doesn't like him at all...and since he takes all the decisions basically regarding the NT. We also have Lauvergne and Tillie as stretch 4/5. At the end of the day Boris will play C I guess  .

--------------
Slovenia star Goran Dragic was excited about the start of preparations, saying: "Every year when we meet, like today, it is great, because in the United States I don't have a chance to see my [national team] teammates.
"We do a lot of things together in the national team which is a completely different thing compared to a club, where every player is locked in his own room. Here we eat and practice together. Everything is more authentic than in a club."

Is Dragic not that good of a player on the national team that he sat out? Or is it just because they were friendly games? Seems like Zoran did okay though. Hmm. The Suns do like brothers...

Nah, the coach was just checking different line-ups.

Poland had inside media game. Something like team A vs Team B 62:62

Przemysław Zamojski 18, Damian Kulig 17, Przemysław Karnowski 16, Maciej Lampe 14, Michał Ignerski 11, Marcin Gortat 9, Adam Hrycaniuk 9, Krzysztof Szubarga 6, Szymon Szewczyk 6, Łukasz Wiśniewski 6, Michał Chyliński 5, Adam Waczyński 3, Tomasz Gielo 2, Michał Michalak 2, Łukasz Koszarek 0, Mateusz Ponitka 0, Thomas Kelati DNP

Gortat now left the national camp to come back to the Orlando for 2weeks further rehabilitation on his foot. He should be back with polish team at the tournament in Belgium(dates listed in my first post)

Maciej Lampe is still playing basketball? And he's only 28? Let's bring him back, just for the hell of it.

Yeah, Lampe become in Europe quite good PF, now as someone said he signed with FC Barcelona so no need to laugh he made a huge improvement in his inside game since being drafted by the Suns. :)

And yeah Karnowski is a big boy for sure. Huge talent from Gonzaga Uni, after Kelly Olynyk left he is expected to excel there. One of the national hopes to enter NBA in 1-2 years. I have my fingers crossed on him :)

Not cool Goran. I wonder why he does that kinda stuff more often in Europe. I remember couple other incidents. Guess he doesn't like physical play that much. This Eurobasket they are hosting could be very frustrating for him in case any failure.

I thought the other guy was hanging on to Goran a bit too long so he got frustrated and shoved him.

I think that because Goran is a starting PG in the NBA, that makes other guys try and step up to the challenge and maybe because of that it gets a little more physical.

I mean what I said. I had totally forgotten about Lampe (who, if you don't know, used to play here). I didn't realize he was still around playing basketball at any level. Also, I never realized he was so young. I would have thought he'd be way older than Gortat (since he played here a long time ago). Instead, he's actually younger than The Hammer! Mind = blown.

Return to Phoenix Suns
