Gortat on the way?
Interviewed by onet.pl, Gortat said today:
"I'm concerned about my future after Caron Butler's trade that brought to PHX another young center. My position is not so strong like some years ago. I think, in the next few days, i'll be out... Hopefully, i'll stay in the NBA, that's my goal. i hope so.".

Re: Gortat on the way
What does he mean "his position is not so strong"?
Like the center position in the NBA or Gortat's position on the suns?
If the former, he is still a starter level center.
Basically..
1. Contenders/Playoff teams don't have enough assets to trade for him (except Thunder, but don't want to pay luxury tax, and risk losing him after 1 year also)
2. Bad teams feel that if they trade for him he will just be a rental, hence they trade assets for a year service.
Had he signed an extension (reasonable) the list of teams asking for him would be higher.

I'll be interested to see what team he gets traded to.

Gortat's position on the suns, hence why he mentioned Butler leaving and us taking back yet another C.
Gortat/Len/Plumlee/Kravtsov. You could also add Frye to that list of C's as well.
I still think Gortat will end up in OKC. They are pushing to be the top team in the west, yet they have a ton of youngin's with potential that cant get any minutes, and the DESPERATELY need a starting C. I LOL when i see OKC fans remark how their ok at center because they just drafted Addams. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, like he will have any impact this season, he's raw as baby s**t!
Im also thinking that it will happen soon. Between us creating cap space with the Butler trade, and a little bit more by cutting SuperHighBeas, we have free'd up enough to be able to take back Perkins in a trade with OKC.
Gortat/Dragic/Marshall/Brown for Westbrook/Perkins/PJ3. Im calling it!

That' not what Gortat said.
He said: "Obawiam się, że moje dni są tak naprawdę policzone, ale kiedy odejdę to zobaczymy", which means: "I'm afraid that my days (in Phoenix) are coming to an end, but we will see when it happens"

Re: Gortat on the way?
I just can't see us taking on Perkins. Unless we can flick him elsewhere, I don't think McD can justify taking on an additional year for an inferior player, and one programmed like Perkins. He doesn't seem like the type to take kindly to rebuilding or playing on a bad team.
How about this:
Gortat, Brown, Freeland to OKC
Perkins, MarcMorris, 2nd round pick to POR
Matthews, Perry Jones to PHX
Matthews has 1yr left and we could use much like Butler - build some value and then deal him at the deadline for some youth/picks.
Personally I dont think POR do it unless they're supremely confident in McCollum coming straight in next to Lillard, or have confidence in Barton to contribute immediately. Perkins backed up by RoLo isn't a bad defensive C rotation at all...

interesting comments none the less... what ever he was referring to that may have been lost in translation.
That OKC trade you have been filling your tissues with Kerrsed just may happen. Though I think you may need a paper towel with the inclusion of Westbrook.
But I'm going to 'take the field' on this dice roll. The obvious has yet to happen with McDo. If there is something up his sleeve he is working on... it's likely we won't see it coming.

Re: Gortat on the way?
There's no way we get Westbrook for that deal, none.
Unless we add OUR pick unprotected and I still don't think OKC does that.
A Bledsoe and Westbrook backcourt would be an insane sight to behold in the open court, but I can't see OKC moving RW when they can see they made a mistake dealing Harden not even a year ago.

Re: Gortat on the way?
Is he really that insecure?? He should be the undisputed starter in the Suns. Unless he really is that mentally weak.
I wouldn't mind shipping him.

Re: Gortat on the way?
Its an open training camp. If he wants his minutes, he has got to fight for them.... And it doesnt seem like hes willing to do that if hes feeling threatened by some Ukrainian throw in center.
You and your self entitlement cant get out of Phoenix soon enough Gortat. It would be a different story if you actually played like an allstar, instead of talking like one.

I agree, if Gortat is threatened by Alex Len (coming off two ankle surgeries), Miles Plumlee and Viacheslav Kravtsov..... there's something seriously wrong. I had always assumed he'd be here at least until the trade deadline, but now I'm not sure we'll even see him in training camp. Can McDonough work his magic once again?

Re: Gortat on the way?
If Gortat gets traded I don't think it will be until the trade deadline. Even though Westbrook is the prized pony in the trade we won't take on Perkins just to get him.

Re: Gortat on the way?
... I'm sorry, did you just:
a) infer you could actually get Westbrook from OKC, and
b) that you would be the side turning the deal down, because you don't want to take back Perkins?!
I think you're in for a huge disappointment about what sort of value Gortat will bring back.

Re: Gortat on the way?
We would have a chance at Westbrook IF we take the burden of Perkins away from OKC. Any other scenario OKC would hang up the phone. Also we would be giving up an above average Dragic in the deal as well, not just Gortat.

How exactly did you figure out that Gortat doesn't want to fight for his minutes? From a 30-second badly translated interview?
And it seems like you just contradict yourself in the same post...
Somebody is whining too much, and it's not Gortat.

Re: Gortat on the way?
I just love when the fans read in between the lines, and through a translated version, it's even better.
I think anyone would be questioning their stay on a team, when that team drafts that position with the fifth pick, and makes two trades that bring back a young center in both. So in this offseason we drafted two centers (5th, 57th), and traded for two more.
At this point, I really don't care what he says, unless he says he wants to be traded. Until then, he is just answering questions about reactions of transactions. The team hasn't changed their position about wanting to keep Gortat.
But who knows? Maybe our goal is to get rid of every vet we can, because young teams are always successful when they rid themselves of all their vets, and never search for vet leadership.
Let the game of jumping to conclusions continue. Oh, and our favorite troller is here to tell us our players suck.

Re: Gortat on the way?
There is no planet in which you are getting Westbrook off OKC, let alone for Gortat. OKC doesn't have to pay a tenth of that price to move Perkins contract.
