Channing Frye

He needs his own thread. Give this man some credit.

1. He's conquered a serious medical condition

2. He's back on the floor putting in serious work. It's great to see him with so much energy and focus. I guess getting a life shaking diagnosis will do that to you.

3. He's been VERY effective. No longer is he just popping 3's. Horny (unlike DAntoni) is actually using Frye to create serious mismatches. If the enemy puts a big guy on him, they use Frye to draw him out of the paint making it easier for us to get inside. If the enemy tries to cheat and puts a small guy on him, they post him up. Before Frye joined the Suns and DAntoni made him into a 3 point specialist, he had a decent inside game. True, his post up skills look a little rusty, but I have high hopes that he can really use his height to create problems inside if teams try to cheat by putting a smaller player on him.

4. He looks like an excellent leader on the court.

Bledsoe/Dragic/Frye (maybe Plumlee) are the only guys on the team I wouldn't consider trading. That's our core.

You know that Frye never played for D'Antoni, right? But I agree with you on your other points. Hope Frye takes a home town discount next season to stay with the team long term. Like him as a player on the court and part of our community.

Agreed about the contract. There's no way he's turning down a 6M player option so hopefully he opts and re-works an extension with a lower cap hit for next season giving us more flexibility.

He and Duds were two guys I loved on those gentry teams, so real glad to see him coming back so strong.

Yes, Frye has played better than expected and he will improve step by step.
He is a good player and I want him on our team for the next years.

I like Channing Frye. And I think he wants to stick around too. For some reason I don't see him as the type to beg for a trade and chase a ring. Mad respect.

I really like Frye on this team, Eric has already seemed to get the ball to him in his 3pt spots (just left or right of the top of key) and he's knocking them down. But more importantly I think he has become a locker room leader cause he seems to embrace the roll of the "vet" and I do get that feeling that he really enjoys being here and on this team.

Hopefully he is still just shaking off the rust, but if this guys name was not "Channing Frye" and people didnt have the sentiment attached to him... then I think we'd be calling for him to be benched.

To say Frye is "struggling" is putting it mildly. Outside of Goodwin, Frye has been the Suns worst rotation player so far, and by a wide margin. I respect his effort and he may get better as the year progresses and he gets in better shape, but so far he has stunk.
