Suns interested in Utah's Hayward.

Per 620 KTAR, according to "a" GM, Suns will do everything possible this summer to sign Hayward to an unmatchable offer sheet.

According to KTAR, who nabbed it from a Peter Vecsey tweet, who got it from someone else, who probably got it from someone else, who was just posturing for some obscure reason we'll never be able to know about...I really don't know why this is even considered newsworthy.

You know what.... Utah is probably
Going to grab wiggins or Parker with their pick because they are awful
So why would they match our offer!? I think he would be an awesome
Pickup ...not max worthy though but maybe 10- 12 mill per. Dude kinda reminds me of a bigger ginolbli but less flopping! I'll take that! Then we can max Lebron lol

I would probably trade Dragic for Hayward, but I don't think Utah would make the deal. At least not right now. Another thing to remember is that if we do have Bledsoe AND Hayward, and they both want max or near max deals, they would eat up almost half our our cap space.

How far can you go with those two as your best players? Obviously most of the rest of our players would be rookie deals, but that just seems like a lot of money to spend...I don't know if you should overpay two guys by THAT much.

If we could sign Bledsoe and Hayward each for $10MM or less, I'm all for it though.

Utah needs a good PG desperately. Why wouldn't they trade Hayward for him especially if they don't want to pay Hayward.

I wouldn't do it though if Hayward costs more than $12 million/yr. He's at BEST the third best option on a legit winning team.

Overpaying for a solid player doesn't sound very McD like but I like Heyward as a 3rd-best on our team going forward. If he agrees to a cheaper offer-sheet with us Utah will probably match igniting a S&T.

That's what I was thinking! Maybe we will do a deadline trade if Utah still has the worst record. Dragic is a great option at around 7.5 million for them. Also if they are going to get wiggins or Parker why spend the money on Hayward?

I love Hayward's all-around game. Big fan of his. That being said, not sure if i want us to tie both him and Bledsoe to massive near-max contracts

Cant Hayward play SF? The guy is 6'8 220 pounds.

I don't want to trade Dragic for him at all but I would love to have him.

Bledsoe
Dragic
Hayward

This is how I feel...

Bledsoe will command 10+ million...
And so will Hayward.

You have 20-24+ million on two players who are ideally 2nd and 3rd options on good teams... Only 2 ways suns can be a very good team and have these 2 make that much money is if they can sign a real first option to a max deal first... Then have an offer to Hayward and it not matched... Then ink Bledsoe last since Suns can sign him over the cap.

Or you sign both to that much money and you have Goodwin, Len and whomever they draft become STARs or close to STAR players next season and have a 4-5 really good players with 2-3 of them on rookie deals.

I agree, I don't like the idea of Hayward and Bledsoe eating so much salary. I think they are both excellent players, but I wouldn't want them both on big contracts essentially ruining our flexibility.

But wouldn't they both(Bledsoe and Hayward) be RFAs, if we traded for him. So couldn't we still sign a big name before we signed both Bledsoe and Hayward? Their cap hold shouldn't be too big.

But I still would rather keep Goran. I'm not sure who else they would want though.

I brought that up and Carey debunked it because of the different timeframe for RFA's than it was two years ago. We signed Gordon to the offer-sheet about a week after FA started IIRC.

Unless there was more salary coming in via trade we can easily afford both Bledsoe and Hayward.

But with that time frame, we could sign a FA, before we would have to match any offer sheets for Bledsoe and Hayward, if we traded for him. All that would be on our books for those two would be their cap holds.

Now the question should be, what is the least we have to give up to get him. Could we give an ok guy and a draft pick? Do we take on a bad player? Would it be enough for them? Would it be too much for us, if they ask for a lot? Do we wait for FA to start, and possibly overpay for him?

And lastly, is this just total bs? F*cking Peter Vecsey!

When you sign an RFA to an offer-sheet doesn't it freeze your transaction ability until the other team decides to makes their decision? I remember everything pausing between us signing Gordon and New Orleans matching... I think that would limit us from making a bunch of moves in a short period.
