So bad that #1 Anthony Bennett is considered one of the worst #1 picks in two decades

But Cavs were stupid to pick him...
Should of picked Noel or Oladipo....
Heck MCW showing he is the next Jason Kidd proves that if you scout right you benefit.
Also Goodwin showing glimpses is a sign that it all goes back to scouting skills.
I'm not saying 2013 draft was good, what I'm saying is Cavs are terrible drafters.
Wasted 2 top 5 picks....

Not trying to defend Bennett and Cavs selecting him first overall. I was a huge fan of him in college, and I was shocked when I heard he went first overall. I expected him to go around 5-10 range.
But he really hasn't had a chance to showcase himself yet. He was playing at 240 at UNLV last year and was an athletic monster. Ever since the injury, he has been around 260+. When he gets back in shape, I expect a complete different player than he is currently right now. Also playing in Mike Brown's disaster offense hasn't helped his case either.

Yeah there may be a few gems out of last years draft but overall the quality was pretty poor. Can't believe how poorly Bennett has played though. I mean he's been so bad he's only getting like 10 minutes per game.

Bennett's looked like rookie yr Marcus Morris when he shot like 27% or something dumb like that.
Overall this class is living up to its poor expectations but there have been a few bright spots. Greek Freak is dripping with potential, mcw and oladipo look real good and guys like Adams and burk look like they could be solid players. Might turn out ok if guys like Len potter mclamore and Noel make it.

I feel vindicated (even though it's still far too early to really say he's as awful as his numbers suggest) cos I said Bennett would be Maxiell 2.0....
So...HA.
Oladipo and Irving would have been EPIC together, such a dumb pick then and an even worse pick now.

That pick was bad enough that it should get Chris Grant fired. I'd be extraordinarily surprised if he still has a job next Summer.

I really worry that CLE could be DONE if Kyrie leaves. Waiters wasn't a very good pick either...Thompson has been solid - solid is fine, as long as you hit a home run with at least 2-3 top 5 picks...
I mean jesus look at their last 3 years:
2013 Bennett (1) Karasev (19) Crabbe (31) Felix (33...and who??)
Crabbe traded for 2x future 2nds, not that bad a deal. Felix...ummm again, who? Seriously they couldn't move 31 and 33 together and get a low 20s pick at least? Karasev doesn't look that bad from what I've seen, might be a diet-Gallinari if they're lucky.
2012 Waiters (4) Cunningham (24) James (33) Crowder (34)
Should have taken Drummond or Barnes - Barnes would have solved their SF issue easily. Put Gee at SG and they'd have an uber athletic swingman combo who can also defend a bit. I actually would have preferred Lamb there to Waiters...He reminds me too much of JR Smith...not a top 4 pick, that's for sure. Trading Cunningham, James and Crowder for Zeller and Azubuike, also not that smart. Crowder's another guy who would be ideal at SF if given minutes.
2011 Irving (1) Thompson (4) Harper (34...who???)
Irving was a home run for sure. Thompson...I dunno, he reminds me a LOT of Jason Thompson is SAC, their early career numbers are very similar, people forget JT wasn't a bad starter early on.
I'm STOKED we've got McD captaining the ship, although I'm still slightly unsure on Len and how good a pick that was. Goodwin gets a pass because he is still 2 years away from being able to hit the clubs, so anything he does from now until he's 21 or 22 is learning in my books.

Most drafts are crapshoots. Too many guys play such limited time in established systems, so often fundamentals are lacking. So in the end, many teams are forced to draft for potential, and not actual skills.
Then most of the teams who draft early don't have established systems, coaches, and squads, where they can be nurtured and developed to meet the potential they were drafted for.

That's why it doesn't matter which pick you have.
