he made everybody better, including washington (making them a playoff team) and indiana (shoring up their bench). he engineered win-win trades for everybody.

I guess you could include making the clippers better by getting them reddick and helping them trade reddick and get the number 1 pick.
He won't win though they'll give it to Morey

Don't be so sure.

Why would Morey get it? Signing a FA isn't exec of the year material.
McD and Ujiri however have taken 2 projected bottom 5 teams into playoff contention via the trade market. One of these 2 should win it.

Ujiri could have a case against McD, because the Raps are winning, but dumping Bargnani and Gay is less impressive than the trades pulled by the Suns.
It's said that it was McD who orchestated all the Bledsoe-JJ Reddick trade and what he did with the Pacers is a piece of beauty particularly as they say he fought hard to include Miles. Gortat was a more 'standard' move but still probably got as much as possible there.
What has been done with the Suns this season is nothing short of what should be inside text books for small-ish franchises who don't have the luxury of having hit an all time jackpot.

I don't know, getting ANYONE to take Bargnani is a massive coup lol. If anything sets McD apart from Ujiri for exec of the year, its hiring Horny, he's been amazing.

It sucks because we're a better team and have a better record but because they play in the Leastern Conference they are seen as a better team in a better playoff position.

I don't think thats the case, we've got a superior record in a superior conference.

Actually Babby was instrumental in that.

Will that be enough though? It's all about perspective. Yes, we've got a superior record in a superior conference but we're 6th in the West while the Raps are 3rd in the East. I'm guessing most people see Raptors making more noise and getting through to the 2nd round than us.

It has to be McD.
It's not all his doing as obviously Hornacek is getting through to the players, but McD put him in that seat as well as trading for cast-offs who have suddenly become legit starters.
I don't think Morey gets anywhere near it unless they turn Asik into something worthwhile. It's not like he acquired Terrence Jones this year or drafted well etc.
As others have said, Ujiri is the only other guy who's resume looks good next to McD this season

McD will make or break his case by the deadline. If he makes a good trade or no trade at all, he gets it. If he makes a bad trade, he's out.

Really? I think he's made his case already. Sure, if he makes another good trade that will help. But I think he has enough of a body of work to make himself a strong candidate for the award. Besides, I think he'll probably stand pat and not make a move at the deadline.

It was McD
As an assistant GM with the Boston Celtics, McDonough – who was hired as Suns GM in April – had been part of trying to acquire Bledsoe in a package for Kevin Garnett. McDonough was the catalyst on Monday and Tuesday to try to complete the deal, officials in the talks said.

Even Babby said in a different interview that McD and his assistant GMs are the ones who worked tirelessly between the Bucks and Clippers to agree to the trade.

This is what I was referring to:
So Suns president Lon Babby — himself a former agent — got on the phone with Arn Tellem, the agent for Redick, and urged him to hold off on signing with Minnesota. McDonough contacted Doc Rivers, the former Celtics coach with whom McDonough had worked in Boston, selling him on the proposal. By that afternoon, all sides had come to an agreement.
http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2 ... f-hornacekI wasn't trying to give Babby sole credit; I was just saying he played a vital role in it.

Even better! We have a solid team running the front office. Oh, how our fortunes have changed!
