Tucker or Green

Post#1 » by MilotheSlayer » Wed Feb 26, 2014 10:35 pm

Has anyone considered moving Tucker to the bench and keeping Green in the starting line up when Bledsoe comes back? It might mean some pinched minutes for Tucker and Marcus, but I think that'd be one hell of a starting lineup. Tucker and the Morrii wouldn't be a bad bench, with Dragic as the pg of the second unit.

If Tucker was a shooting guard, then maybe, but there seems no point in putting our best defender on the bench. It doesn't really matter what anyone here thinks. Jeff starts Tucker at the three, and I trust his judgement over anyone here.

I agree, I think both Tucker and Green would benefit with Green starting and Tucker off the bench.

Gerald Green struggled in early December when he returned to the bench after Bledsoe healed from a shin bruise, shooting 29 percent and averaging 6.9 points over seven games.

Green seems to really struggle with his shot coming off the bench where as for Tucker, all he does is just bring energy which he can do off the bench also since that's not really a chemistry problem.

Guys like Tucker, Lou, Faried are all energy guys who would be best when used in spurts as opposed to playing starter minutes.

That would be my preference. Bledsoe and Green as primary on ball and wing defenders aren't the worst thing in the world. Goran takes the worst wing.

Our perimeter offense would be incredible, with Goran/ EB slashing and creating, and Green finishing. Tucker is fine when he's hitting that corner 3, but after starting the season at 40+% he seems to have really cooled off.

Plus, I like the premise of Barbosa and Tucker as offensive/defensive spark plugs off the bench for intense limited minute spurts.

Barbosa over Goodwin? No way.

I think it'd help with starting games strong.

I agree with this come playoff time his defense will be very valuable. On top of that we will need Greens scoring boost off the bench and he will make things easier for the morris twins by creating space for them to operate. Tucker is not good enough offensively to come off a bench that struggles when the morris twins aren't making difficult jumpers.

Green doesn't give a scoring boost off the bench. He struggles of the bench. Read above post.

What? Do some of you even look up stuff before posting garbage? Green does perfectly fine off the bench. In fact he has been slightly MORE efficient off the bench than as a starter.

That's a 7 game sample out of 18 games he has played off the bench.

His numbers off the bench for this season are

22.8 Mins 11.4 PPG off .434 % FG and .396% from 3

I don't think that's struggling

There will be a lot of questions to answer when Bledsoe comes back. More than likely Jeff will still start Green for a game or two, but it won't be Tucker on the bench. If Jeff stays consistent, he will bring Bledsoe off the bench, like he has with both Bledsoe and Goran, coming off injuries.

One question will be whether to play the bulk of Green's minutes with Goran or Bledsoe, because once both guys are close to 100%. one of them will be on the court at all times. And then, does Goodwin play well enough to take the extra minutes at two that Goran or Green don't take, or does LB comeback strong enough to get some.

I think we will barely see Smith once Bledsoe comes back. At the three, Tucker will start, and McMorris will take the rest of those minutes, with an occasional Green.

It really won't be any different than it was when we were at full strength other than we have more options, with LB, a healthy Len, and possibly a ready Goodwin.

I think too many of you don't get Jeff, and what he has been doing.

I can't stand Tucker in the starting lineup. At least when Bledsoe returns, Plumlee returns as well.

I was also wondering if Ish would still play backup minutes and we move Dragic off ball all the time. I love the pace that Ish brings to the game. We almost have to many guys that will be getting minutes, The Morrii, Len, Goodwin, Ish and either Tucker or Green. Really come playoff time i'd like to see us cut the rotation down to 8 or 9 guys

This team desperately needs some offensive skills besides Dragic. I still cannot speak his name so I will continue to use #17. Anyway, my point is #17 lack of offensive skill set is hurting this team more then whatever else he brings. Those rebounds are nice and all but the suns need someone to put the ball in the basket.

Man it's going to be something else to have either Dragic or Bledsoe on the court 100% of the time...

On topic: I would start Tucker at the 3, even though I absolutely hate his stupid solo escapades on offense where he goes 1v3 and thinks he is Lebron.

Imagine if Frye had Tucker's rebounding ability :o

I can tell you this, if #17 doesn't play within his capabilities and become somewhat of an offensive threat, he can punch his ticket out of phx. He will be a free agent in a few months and I guarantee the suns will look to upgrade.

I wouldn't mind keeping him around, he brings a much needed backbone to our team. If he came off the bench and played 15minutes or so I'd be more than happy. He seems to bring intensity every game which is something that we've lacked the past week or so.
