Gordon Hayward
Hi Suns fans. Just curious if you are all still high on Gordon Hayward. What do you expect your team to offer him this summer? Near Max Deal?
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

I don't think we would. If we offer a deal it would most likely be in the $9-10 range, which I think Utah would match if Hayward signed the offer sheet.
I think we will be more concerned with resigning Bledsoe.

Re: Gordon Hayward
I'd like to the Suns to offer him a 4 year deal worth 36mil, but I think his price is gonna be around 40-44mil for 4 years. I like Hayward and I think Hornacek would be a perfect coach for him.

I don't think we're going to offer anything that Utah won't match easily.

Re: Gordon Hayward
Isnt Hayward asking for money in the same ball park as Deng? If the price tag was the same, who dose everyone think would be the better player to be on this team?? Is it Deng... older, probably better at this point.. vet leader? Or Gordon... younger... probably not worth that kind of coin yet, but young and still developing?

I think all of this Love chatter is going to allow us to quietly pick up Hayward.....like Nash in 2004.

Re: Gordon Hayward
I would rather all of the chatter to quietly allow us to steal Randolph and a reasonable offer for Deng.

That'll work too, but that is a very short win now move!!

You can't quietly pick up a restricted free agent. There is no more chance Utah lets him go than there is us letting Bledsoe go ESPECIALLY now that it is unlikely they get Jabari Parker.
Not sure why people keep bringing him up. Jazz are in an even better cap position than we are and don't have another 3 and their draft spot isn't in a great spot to get a 3 AND Utah is not a place they can expect to sign someone else as a free agent easily.

Ok... I will state the obvious for you. I hope we can get him to opt out.

Re: Gordon Hayward
Personally I don't want him on the Suns.
I think he's another second/third option at best player and we already have 2 of those in Dragic and Bledsoe. I'm afraid of the team getting stuck if he were on it, barring massive development of a current big man or a picked this year big man.
Not to mention I've always got the impression he's needed the ball on offense to be effective. With 2 ball-handling guards I don't see him thriving on the Suns.

Again see Detroit 1988-1990 and 2004. If you have enough really good players you can still win a title. Every Sun had a career year last year, imagine Hayward having a career year playing with Bled and Goran.
bwgood77. Utah couldn't sign and trade Hayward? We can't offer him a contract that Utah might not want to match? Hayward makes us better period. That is why we are talking about him.

The thing is, I'm not sure we want to offer him a contract that Utah won't match. He makes us better yea, but by how much? Enough to make it worth the money? We had a good year but the west is cutthroat as hell and we are still only on the edge of it. Not sure we can afford a mistake like overpaying Hayward.

Oops.. my bad, I was speaking of Randolph. I have no opinion on or real desire for Hayward.

Re: Gordon Hayward
Isn't Randolph really old and out of shape? How would that fit in our fast break offense.....
As for Hayward, I'd offer him $10M/yr contract but I doubt Utah lets him walk.

I was never a fan of the Randolph trade talk. I didn't much like Gasol on our team but he fits better than Randolph because he's actually a good passer.

Re: Gordon Hayward
Another guy I wouldn't take over Tucker for a third the price. Hayward has a similar skill set to Dragic but we'd be sacrificing points on the defensive end. Archie will play more which pushes Green to SF at times.

Re: Gordon Hayward
For this team, Randolph is not a good fit at all
Wish we'd stop talking about him. Good player, rebounds well, but other than that not what we need. Antithesis of Suns basketball.

Re: Gordon Hayward
What we need is an ultimate post presence. Not all five guys need to be gazelles. We need someone who is a force in the middle, a guy who commands double teams to open up the perimeter. Have to sag in on him to help, with dragic, bled, green, and fry more open to shoot or drive. And if you dont double or sag, you cant stop himone on one!
