Is this a pick that is going to be used elsewhere in some overall RealGM mock draft? Or is this just a Suns thread unrelated to anything else? Just curious, because I had an idea for another thread on our board that I was thinking of mentioning here, but if this is related to some other overall RealGM mock draft where you are posting this on every team's board, I will just stick with that.

As for my top 3 in the scenario above, I would almost certainly take James Young no question, so I wouldn't need 3.

But if I had to list 3, I'd probably go

Young
Hood
Warren

Hood and Warren would be close for 2nd, and I'd probably consider that for awhile, but I think outside shooting is pretty important since we have ball handlers, which is why I'd lean Hood, but I do like Warren.

Also, if we were just going BPA to try and use for trades later, a guy like Payton would be a consideration.

Also, I may like Early more than Hood and Warren, but I think we could easily get him with the next pick.

If for some reason we dealt Frye (or Kief), Payne would probably rank 2nd on the list, and if we took him at 14, I'd take whoever is left of those three above or Early with the 2nd pick.

OK, well I edited the above post with my answer, so you can see my thoughts.

Ugh, I see us trading out of this. Not an ideal situation for us at 14...

Damn, a lot of Payton. He looks good, but with our collection of talent and them wanting Goodwin to play point, it seems like an odd pick, unless you'd want to use Bledsoe as a trade chip, which could possibly bring us back considerable value.

I wonder what we (and other GMs) think of Nurkic. Why is he rated so low by everyone other than DX? I agree that he could be the best choice for us at 14. I worry about having him and Len on the same bench. There's no way those two will ever play together, so picking Nurkic would really put a target on Len's back.

Nurkic seems like a Pekovic type prospect from what I've seen. Not the best defender or rebounder, but an absolute beast in the post on offense. He moves well and has a ton of upside, so I think he's worthy of the 14th pick. I don't think picking another center is putting a target on Len's back. This team needs more production from the 5 spot and having two young C's that could grow into "the guy" at that spot would be pretty exciting.

Why is everyone so high on Payton? It makes no sense, especially since we have Dragic and Bledsoe, and Archie who could possibly play pg in the future.

He can't shoot and he is a turnover machine. He is good at a lot of things, but not necessarily things this team needs.

Did anyone read Titus' article I linked to in the draft thread? Have people watched Payton play?

Best player available. You don't draft for need. I just don't get that excited about warren, hood, Hairston, nurkic, etc. honestly I'd probably want GRIII the most but it looks like we can pick him up later
