Please don't be Kendall Marshall 2.0.

Lets just say, the last time the Suns drafted a Canadian point guard..
I can dream, can't I?

I don't know much about him but he seems like he is appreciative and comes off really well spoken compared to a lot of his peers. Maybe i'm being optimistic but i'm not getting a kendall marshall vibe from this guy at all, kendall came off pretty douchey to me for some reason. This guy seems like he is confident but willing to learn. Lets see how he does leading the bench.
I would prefer it if we kept him at this point I don't see who we are going to get that would be worth it.

The draftexpress vid of him is great. Love pure point guards. My only problem with him is his complete lack of lateral movement. But im very optimisitc.

Big difference I see between him and Kendall Marshall is he has really good defensive instincts, and he isnt afraid to score. If you watch some tape on him he carried Syracuse offensively in alot of games in crunch time. He looks fearless.

I'm a Syracuse fan, so I've probably seen more of Ennis than most posters here. I definitely like this pick and think he'll be a real good pro. Ennis' athleticism is underrated, partially because of the way he plays. He's very smooth, and that sometimes makes him look slower than he is. No, he'll never be confused with Zach Lavine physically, but IMO, he's legitimately an NBA-caliber athlete, not just a guy who's "good enough to get by."
Ennis is 100% a true point guard -- he looks to distribute much more than score, and he almost never turned the ball over at SU. His shooting stats weren't impressive, but his stroke was very sound, and he hit enough outside shots to make me think he'll be a good outside shooter someday. Keep in mind that he was really 100% the point guard, meaning he never played off the ball or got catch & shoot opportunities. Most guys shoot a lot better in catch & shoot situations than when they have to pull up.
Ennis is very steady on the floor, and as I said earlier, very smooth. When he drives, he usually varies his tempo (a la Nash and others) to beat his man, rather than just blowing by with pure speed. On a team with vaunted senior CJ Fair, Ennis still became the leader or at least co-leader of the team within a few games. The reason we started 25-0 was because we were invincible in close games. Now, obviously no one ALWAYS wins their close games, but Ennis' clutch play and steady, ice-cold personality were huge for us. I'm not saying that SU would've won as many close games next year if Ennis came back -- I do know what regression to the mean is -- but Ennis has the "clutch" traits that help maximize a team's chances in a close game. It just so happened that those chances went our way almost every time last year, and that part involves some luck. But there's nothing lucky about a PG who never gets rattled, always stays cool no matter the stakes, never takes bad shots, and consistently makes the right pass to an open teammate. Plus there's this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAOIdhEJ1HgAt a minimum, I think Ennis is an immediate upgrade over Ish Smith, and a likely starter long term.

The more I watch his highlight videos and read on him the more I like the pick. While you can't change athleticism you can increase explosiveness to a certain extent, whether it be lateral movement or speed. He's going to have to put on a little bit more weight but his vision is very good and he seems to understand the way the game flows and has a very high basketball IQ in just understanding defenses. It's easy to compare to Kendall Marshall just because we have the bad taste in our mouth and because he's a pass-first point guard but he can actually shoot and score unlike Marshall. I'm looking forward to watching him develop.

I thought Ennis was a good shooter?
35 % from 3...
I said this when we drafted Marshall and I'll say it now....PGs who don't have good athleticism, can't shoot, and aren't lock down defenders struggle in this league.
No player can get by on just his playmaking ability even if he's an amazing passer.

I think he's a little better shooter and athlete than people give him credit for.
It's funny that people see this as some sure sign Bledsoe or dragic will get moved. Ennis was a 1 and done point guard who's still very raw; he's not some ready made starting point guard. He's going to take ishs spot and maybe earn some minutes but most likely will be just learning this yr and playing if someone is hurt. Now if he develops and is starter worthy in a year or two having multiple starter caliber pgs is a good problem.
One good thing is this kills the whole Archie Goodwin point guard thing. To me it was always clear Archie was a 2 guard.

Archie is an attacking guard, I don't think it really matters what they want to call him.
What I like about this pick is even though he is considered more of a methodical PG the Suns had him go head to head with the guy who pressures better both ways in transition than anyone in the draft and he must have answered any questions about how he'll handle the Suns system.

I don't get the Kendall Marshall comparisons. Marshall's main thing was assists in transition.
Ennis is more of a drive and kick point guard - ala Ricky Rubio. 2.1 stls per game and that sneaky ability to get into the lane is something Marshall never had.
Sure, the guy isn't a Westbrook level athlete, but it's not like he's Marshall level unathletic. He just doesn't look to score.

Kendall Marshall was coming across as sort of goofy almost immediately after we drafted him. Saying strage or just weird stuff on Twitter, he just seemed to me to be immature.
So far Ennis has has seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I don't think he's going to be KButter 2.0 .

My guess would be Elfrid Payton

He went against Russ Smith who is an experienced senior that excels at pressuring the ball and pushing the tempo.
