How much do you want your Suns going after Hayward w Max

As a Jazz fan I really like Hayward, but most of us think he is only worth 8-10M per season. He had terrible shooting statistics last year and made up for it by getting more boards and assists... I worry the former will continue and the latter will stop and that anything over $10M per year will be regretted.
With so much money floating around teams are going to offer big money to guys who just don't deserve it.
Gordon hayward, Luol Deng and others aren't max guys. They just are not.
If the Jazz are willing to matchup to $14M per year do you really want Gordon at Max money $15.75M per year.

I don't want them to at all. I think Jazz would match any offer anyway. He may not seem worth it to you, but you don't want to lose him do you? The Jazz are probably in the best position out of all teams in regards to their cap management and most of their players are on rookie contracts. Since it isn't a big free agent destination preference, I think it would be stupid for Utah to let him go.

Not very much. On a reasonable contract, sure. On a contract that would make the jazz think twice about, no.
We dodged a bullet with Eric Gordon, don't want to be mired with Hayward on a huge contract.

If we offer max, and the jazz don't match, I'd throw up. But around 9m I'd be okay.
He also killed one of my fantasy teams last season.

I wouldn't bother offering him a contract unless we got assurance that Utah has moved on by signing someone like Deng, Ariza or Parsons.

I'd rather pay Hayward who's 24 then deng who's 29.
Deng isn't taking a short term deal that's why cube bulls wanted to do away with him he's also asking for the same amount of money.. Give or take.
Gotta also look at who fits the system better adding deng is capping your growth
Hayward can still improve

dengs an old 29 too. Came in the league young and tibs has played him a ridiculous amount of minutes. I bet he's looking for over 12 a yr.
Hayward wasn't very good last year but one thing that would make me comfortable giving him a big contract is horny knows him well and if he thinks Hayward is worth it then I trust him.

I really really like Hayward's game. I think he will be an All Star in the next few years, he is young (from 1990) and he is improving every single year.
He is the kind of player that I want...coachable, great locker room presence, fair play but fight very hard, great basketball IQ, hard worker, not arrogant, unselfish and he knows how to play the game easily. He reminds me in all of that sense players like Steve Nash or Grant Hill.
Hornacek knows very well his game and personality and he would fit nicely in our team like an starting forward and playing some minutes at SG too.
I would make a big offer...something like $55M / 4 years, near max contract.

Agreed. For people who are scared about his super low efficiency last season, don't forget couple of things:
1. Utah was a bad team for a first time during his career there. When your team is trying to tank, you quickly lose motivation, and don't give 100%. Good comparison is Dragic in 12/13 and in 13/14. Huge difference.
2. He ended up being the best player on that team after Jefferson and Millsap left, and the only one who can create his own shot. That led to a lot of hard and contested shots. Don't forget he is still a very young guy, and was totally unprepared to take that role.

The jazz have so little salary committed they will probably match. So I guess the question becomes what would the suns be comfortable giving up in a sign and trade. IMO it will cost at least their own 1st rounder next year but probably more than that. What's a fair deal?

I hope to god this is a smokescreen, we don't need any more wing players.
Spend the max money on Dragic or Bledsoe.

I'd rather him over Parsons.

I'm a Parsons advocate here... Smart player who has a nice offensive skill set... Suitable for suns.
But Hayward has all of Parsons's strengths plus ball handling and defense.
I'll keep mentioning until someone realises it... Hayward, Dragic are two players that are Ginobili-esque in their skills and knowledge of the game... Hayward wears 20 for a reason.

Hayward is only a little above average for a starter at SF. Ranked 12th among SFs in terms of PER, and 27th in RPM (below average for a starter). He's only a marginal improvement over Tucker statistically, and a drop of in terms of defense. I say pass. We can do as well for a lot less money.

Whereas that may be true, statistics only do you so much. If stats where all that mattered, FA would be an easy game to play. Unfortunately, signing players in FA (especially players like Hayward) is more about potential than stats. Tucker has hit his ceiling and maybe even already hit it. Hayward may not even be 3 quarters the way there. THAT'S what you pay for, but that's also the tricky part about all of this.

Well, I'd defer to Hornacek on this one. If Hornacek believed in this kid and, more specifically, his shot, then he's worth something.
Still not sure if it's the max. Actually pretty sure he's not a max player.

As a third option instead of a first option, his efficiency numbers would go way up. I think he's much closer to a 40% 3 pt shooter than he is a 30%. He could give us 15/5/4 while shooting 45/38/80. He'd be a much needed additional playmaker who would play very well off the ball. I think ideally he is a 9-10 million a year guy, but utah matches that. I think the only chance is to entice them with a sign and trade, because we shouldn't pay Hayward the max. Not sure what we have that could entice them, would they want draft picks?
