I'm pretty sure that Alan has severe limitations due to his size, just like Ulis. He is a 3rd string, undersized center. You don't pay those 7mill per. Len would have done just as well, or better if he had gotten the same chances, and I mean mostly playing style, what he is asked to do, etc... not minutes.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we offered Len $7M a year or a little more, but his agent and him thought he could do better next off season. After all, Noel was holding out for like triple that, and Plumlee got almost double that. Not many of the RFA centers were accepting small deals, especially fairly high picked ones.

Sorry , Bogyo...wan't 'dissing' you, which is why I had the (?), since I wasn't sure, but sounded like you were not a fan of Len.

Anyway, I agree. And I don't blame Len and Noel for wanting to get higher contracts. Like you said, Plumlee got an insane deal. As did Mozgov...and Mahinmi...and Asik. Why should those guys get to make between nearly $12M to over $16M, when each and everyone of them are miles worse than Len and Noel. Problem is, they became available in a saturated market.

No offense taken, I've seen the question mark.
I know (see) that Len is not an all star, and not even a top 10 starting center, but he is no scrub, and would be better, had he been used and coached correctly.

Met up with some friends over in Tempe at Gen Korean BBQ.

Len was there w/ his GF. Didn't want to disturb too him too much while he was eating dinner but a solid dude. Told him best of luck this year with everything that is going on and hopefully he has a good year.

Told him RealGM represent from all of us, he had a good laugh.

Funny that Len is supposedly not a good post player yet he always draws a lot of fouls. Just something I found interesting while watching games.

Len has close to doubled his free throw attempts this year. I attribute that the simplification of his offensive game as a primary pick-n-roll target diving to the basket. Almost 80% of his shots are coming within 3 feet of the basket this year compared to 50% or less in the past. His offensive rebounding percentage is the best of his career which makes sense as he is around the basket more instead of standing around the top of the key or worse at the three point line.

edit: His true shooting percentage is .624 which is a career best, although he still shoots a pretty poor 2-pt percentage for a center (.500). For example, Chandler has been a .600 2-pt shooter and close to a .700 true shooting percentage.

Now imagine for a second that this was instructed to him from day 1 in the last 4 goddamn years, and he would be coached, by an actual NBA coach to do this. I think it would be pretty safe to say he would have gotten that 4y 50 mill contract this summer, and we could try to develop those mid range jumpers and corner 3s from now on... smh :noway:

Yeah, Alex was really bad coached. Even in college.
I feel sorry for him, but hopefully he'll rebuild his value this year.

Always thought Len had the ability to be an effective player after year two. Not a two way player, but a sound starter in the league.

He's a superb rebounder, and a solid defender. Especially like the defense when Len and Bender are on the court together.

He still has terrible hands on offense, but the one plus is that he's a very solid FT shooter. As long as he keeps rolling to the basket and drawing fouls, he won't be a liability on the offensive end.

That's good. You would think that means he's taking a higher percentage of very close range shots (likely dunks). It's too bad his fg% is still less than 50%.

Needs to get stronger finishing at the rim. Spent all these years mis-managed trying to spread the floor, all the way out to 3. He should have been in the role Triano has him in now, rolling to the basket more frequently all these years and we would be in a different place with him.

He misses a ton of easy shots at the rim due to him getting blocked or missing and he needs to learn how to fake out the defender sometimes as he's too predictable.

Perception is interesting as he has similar stats per minute to last year.

He's getting more free throws but shooting less efficiently, more rebounds but less blocks.

I'd like to see how he's been drawing those fouls and whether that's sustainable.

Alex Len has no lift to be able to dunk a ball. On a lot of would-be-assists he can usually gets blocked or throws up a horrible running hook. Worse his ability to lead and direct the overall team defense absolutely sucks. It seems the team always gives up leads/big points when he is in. I can't wait for Monroe to take his minutes and McD should be fired if he signs Len to a contract this summer.

Alex Len is big **** turd. Monroe played a good game against the Rockets and if we can get Tyson Chandler back healthy Len should be waived to make room for a real player.

I think this about does it for me with Len. That block pretty much sums up how he has progressed as a basketball player on this team.

I've been very supportive of him in previous seasons, preaching patience and advocating a DeAndre Jordan sort of approach to bringing him along (in terms of patience and his game). But for whatever reason, it's just not working out. He's now the 3rd best center on our team with the arrival of Monroe. Honestly the 4th best if Dragan ever slides over to 5 in some lineups.

I've tried to stay on the train, but since he's not signed to a deal and is expiring after this year, I don't see the point in staying a believer in him because he hasn't shown really anything. If he does achieve success, in all likelihood it won't be with us.

Like I said last Feb., he's a bust. It hurts because we wanted him to pan out so badly but he is what he is at this point. Can't finish or hold on to the ball. It's year 4. Time to move on.
