Who do you think will be rookie of the year?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Thu Oct 2, 2014 3:36 am

Just for fun, I thought I'd come up with a poll for the season. If anyone has any other good polls...we should do a few preseason poll predictions, just to see how people feel. Perhaps about the Suns, but maybe about the league too. If I do too many just let me know....I don't want to annoy people with it...just provide entertainment and stuff for people to talk about.

Please elaborate on a post on why you made your pick if you can.

I originally had Stauskas and Payton as choices but that was too many. If you think someone else besides the choices will get it, just choose who you think is most likely out of the options and then state in a post who you think has a better chance.

I picked Noel. I don't think he will be nearly the best player of the list in the long run but I think he likely wins it because he will be the the 1st or 2nd best guy on the team and will play the most. If he wasn't eligible since he is technically not a rookie, I would vote for Parker. I think Gordon could be a sleeper though, but his impact will be mostly defense.

Depends on Kobe...if he is adamant they compete, he will want Boozer and Hill playing big minutes and won't want rookies developing in his last years of hoping they can compete. Unless his sole goal is scoring enough to try and work towards catching the guys above him on the all time scoring list, then he might want to play with more guys who won't score. But regardless of who he plays with he will make them feel that they need to give them the ball.

Ultimately it depends on whether or not Randle is really ready to contribute at this level. He is there but so are most of the guys on that list I think outside of maybe Payton and Gordon offensively.

I really think Warren has a shot if he does well in summer league.

Gonna be Warren or Parker.

Parker has the best chance because he got drafted to be the star player of the team right away. I think Warren will turn some heads but Parker is going to be so heavily relied upon it's going to be tough to match the numbers he's going to put up.

I like Exum too, but I think he's on the wrong team.

My vote went to Parker. He's talented, his game should translate right away and he's going to get heavy minutes with a green light to score.

My darkhorse is Marcus Smart.

I went with Parker because of the role available to him in Milwaukee.

Pleasantly surprised by the number of Warren votes so far - I'd have to guess he doesn't get it just because he may not get the minutes to produce at that level, but I'd be quite happy to be proven wrong and it would mean good things for the Suns.

i voted Smart in part bc i think he'll get the burn-- esp if Rondo gets traded

but mostly bc that would be the most painful outcome for Lakers fans and so thats what i want

Noel. He has unlimited minutes in Philly and has already been in the league for a year, seeing the hustle and bustle and all the traveling. He could very easily lead the league in blocks his rookie season, which would be a major accomplishment.

And this has nothing to do with you drafting him in fantasy league...

Went with Noel. Jabari and Smart are the next in line. Playing in philly does wonders for your stats.

Parker no doubt. I think Noel has a chance if his offensive game has improve but if he's struggling to get 10ppg then I don't think he will outshine Jabari. Parker was drafted to be the star and he will get a lot offensive opportunities on that team.

TJ is a great scorer but he won't get the touches or minutes on our team to be in the discussion. Unless we have some injuries issues Dragic, Bledsoe, Kieff and Thomas are going to be the core of our scoring then you factor in Green and Tucker from 3 and Plumlee/Len on cleanup it just doesn't leave much in the way of opportunities or minutes for TJ

Haven't really browsed around these other forums, only Suns so far  I'm doing boxing and some BJJ myself, so I'll make it sure to throw a look over. Are they active like the bb forums? Thanks for the heads up. :)

Noel.

No competition for mins, no expectations, not as much hype as the '14 class and he will show his importance on the defensive end - whereas most ROY are almost always cos of scoring.

I can see Noel doing 12-13pts, 7-9rebs, 1.5stl and 2.5blk - that's elite defensive numbers.

He had an impressive summer league - knocked his FTs down at a much higher clip than was expected, you can tell he has a chip on his shoulder from going 6.

God I wish we had him over Len, even with him sitting out a year...

I'm not there...yet. I honestly think Len can turn out to be a top 5 C in this league. He's just more well rounded than Noel, and while Noel will no doubt be more exciting to watch, I think in the long haul, Len could develop into a special all-around talent...oorrr, he could bust out completely, but right now, I still have faith in Len.

As far as ROY, I'll go Parker as well. If he stays healthy, hard to imagine he isn't given starter minutes, and physically, he appears to be ready to handle the NBA.

Honestly, I've only been around there the last few months posting. Been there once or twice the past year or two and it always seemed dead but after checking it more thoroughly, there is a decent following. Obviously this isn't Sherdog forums or something MMA focused but at least you'll have semi-intelligent discussions.
