The Suns may move from downtown Phoenix to Scottsdale when the arena lease is up. There was an old thread on this, I'll try to dig it up. I want to say the lease is up in 2018.

A good tactic to get a deal, but a long bluff. There is some strong economic sense to moving east, but Sarver is heavily invested in downtown and the Suns are his anchor property down there.

I think the likelihood of putting it where the old civic center buildings are is more likely, and more likely to include additional space/options for the other tenants discussed.

It will be a masterplanned space, I am sure. Sarver will retain rights to redevelop the current siteas well. As far as it is for me, it makes too much sense to keep it downtown given all of the factors for everyone involved.

I wonder if the Suns and Coyotes can go in together on a new arena since Glendale can't get its sh*t together.

i did hear that a city councilmen was trying hard to get an arena deal done that would have the Coyotes and the Suns sharing a new arena, if that goes through, we might see the new suns arena way sooner then we thought
