We still need that backup PF. I'm hoping it's a vet that would be happy with 15mpg but is ready and happy to play more or less if called upon.

Ray Ray - totally agree. And this really jacks the Mavs as free agency is basically done and now they are left with Kevin Seraphin. Even a guy like Kosta Koufos would have been a good alternative (also would have made the perfect three way sign and trade with the Grizzlies: Koufos to Dallas, Brandon to Memphis and Tyson to Phoenix)

Ray Ray - hearing any rumblings lately. I know you had the Joe Johnson name. But Amick had Brendan Haywood as a name to the Suns - hearing anything as that would have to be to flip his contract for a player.

Top 6 team in west?

I thought of this immediately as somebody pointed out Dirk trolling his last year on a bad team. Not saying there aren't better options but how many teams in the West could give up an asset like Markieff for Dirk. I think for one year, the Suns would be better that's for sure.

I doubt Dirk does it as he is loyal to Dallas and Cuban and I doubt Cuban does it. But it would be intriguing to have a guy, that if rested properly in the season - would be a money scorer.

Absolutely. Now our only concerns are Kings, Jazz and health.

I just hope this doesn't mean us going all in for the eight seed/making a dumb deadline deal midseason to "get us over the top" only to barely get in. Then Sarver could wave the foam finger and would be validated bragging about ending our 5 year playoff drought to ultimately set us on the perpetual course of treadmilling

Am I the only one that is holding out hope that LMA is watching this DJordan drama and thinking twice about joining the Spurs. LMA goes back to Portland and asks for a MAX Sign and Trade to the Suns for Kieff.

Look at Tysons Twitter.

Has an emoji of a Sun and Peace Sign.

Means either

Peace out I am a Sun

or

Peace out Suns

Maybe he is quoting Sound garden...

Its bad because Mavs assumed he is a man of his word, so they didnt court any one else....
Had DJ told them he isnt sure yet.... that he is 50/50, then Mavs would of made plans to court R.Lopez or have Chandler back... but DJ telling them 1 week later that he is staying at LA is incredibly low... legal... but low.

I think the Jazz are the only team to worry about, The Kings always self destruct before all star break

Yeah this is bad for the Mavs. The worst part is DJ is not calling or telling Mark Cuban and the organization himself!

Mavs are stuck with Seraphin, Amare, Jordan Hill, or McGee now!

I can't see us going into the season with Leuer as our main backup PF. We will most likely sign a shooter SG/SF and a 3rd string PG too.

So, Weems, Price, and who? Good call man!

It would be great to see LMA pull an Ashton Kutcher and right before signing paperwork with the Spurs reveals a Phoenix Suns jersey and tells em they just got punk'd. "Got a camera right there, there's one over there. I got all of you, and the whole city!"

Clips were thinking about going after McGee to pay back the favor. They still might and steal two of the Mav's FA center targets

So DJ will get another year and $30 million more than what the Mavs offered?
